This is a funny story about a scrubbing machine on the fritz Mrs Wishy Washy is known for her obsession with cleaning things, but now she s got a new scrubbing machine a sort of super duper power washer meets vacuum Wish I had one But the new machine won t turn off and has a mind of its own My son, who just turned 17 months and absolutely adored this book I was searching for books about cleaning to try to teach him opposites dirty and clean because he is very interested in helping me do This is a funny story about a scrubbing machine on the fritz Mrs Wishy Washy is known for her obsession with cleaning things, but now she s got a new scrubbing machine a sort of super duper power washer meets vacuum Wish I had one But the new machine won t turn off and has a mind of its own My son, who just turned 17 months and absolutely adored this book I was searching for books about cleaning to try to teach him opposites dirty and clean because he is very interested in helping me do household chores like sweeping and vacuuming So I wanted to help him learn WHY we do those things because they re dirty and we want them clean This book was one of my choices to help teach him about cleaning I kind of thought he may like it, but never expected him to like it as much as he did It s actually one of the few books I don t mind reading over and over First of all, he is obsessed with my vacuum cleaner at home He loves to help vacuum and is fascinated by seeing the vacuum pick up debris Every morning, I kid you not , for about 15 minutes he thoroughly inspects the vacuum cleaner getting down on his hands and knees and up on his tippy toes to check out every little button and part on it while I get dressed and do my hair He would probably play with the vacuum all day if I didn t keep it in my bedroom away from him Anyway, Mrs Wishy Washy buys the machine to clean her home but it goes on the fritz, and takes off on its own scrubbing all the things she didn t intend to wash with it including Mrs Wishy Washy herself, and her pets My son thinks this is absolutely hilarious because he knows a vacuum is for the floor not for people or pets We love the illustrations in this book and how they are replete on the pages meaning enlarged and exceeding page borders Another really great reason we love this book is because its very useful for language development It not only has a very catchy and flowy rhyme but it contains very good onomatopoeias Every time the machine does something it goes Glop Wishy washy Wishy Washy Bubble Bubble Plop My son squeals with delight every time we read this refrain Love this book, I highly recommend both for it s teaching points and for its entertainment value One of my son s favorites Autumn From Papyrus to Picture Books
