This book is a life changer I m not being overdramatic I mean it in the rarely used literal sense of the word this book has changed my life.Due to a series of events that I until recently regarded as coincidence, I met James Langteaux at a read thru of a play I m currently performing The meeting was brief, but I left feeling like I had missed an opportuniy to have a deep conversation with a kindred soul. The next day, I ran into James at another function that I had been invited to God knows This book is a life changer I m not being overdramatic I mean it in the rarely used literal sense of the word this book has changed my life.Due to a series of events that I until recently regarded as coincidence, I met James Langteaux at a read thru of a play I m currently performing The meeting was brief, but I left feeling like I had missed an opportuniy to have a deep conversation with a kindred soul. The next day, I ran into James at another function that I had been invited to God knows I m a cautious guy, so he sometimes has to work a little hard to get my attention and have me take the leap Anyway, He did the extra work, and I met with James again to tell him all about how I just finally decided that I was going to try to live my life as what I think Catholicism should be, queer as a three dollar bill or not.For some reason, James was moved by this and gave me a free copy of his book He even offered me a ride home Like I mentioned earlier, I m an overly cautious guy, so I said no I ve regretted that decision ever since. My schedule became hectic, my show opened and my copy of Gay Conversations with God lay unread in my room I didn t touch it, not even to move it so I didn t feel guilty when I would collapse into my bed at night Finally, with noexcuses, I cracked it open and began my own Gay ConversationI tell you all of this so that you can understand the depth of emotion I felt finally taking in this book Never before have I read such heatfelt words that so aligned with my personal beliefs The only term I can use to describe it is spiritual syncronicity Sure, I have plenty of gay friends who are spiritual and plenty of straight friends who are religious Both regard me politely as an intriguing oddity for being gay and religious That s fine, but there s always a lot of explaining to do when you re an intriguing oddity Never before have I read something that made me just want to shout, YES This is ME No explanation or mish mashing of philosophies necessary. There were multiple instances throughout the book that brought me to tears for no other reason than sheer joy at finally finding something to prove unequivocally that I m not alone Like I said, this book is a life changer.I believe this book is an experience that should remain untarnished by my specificity Read it and begin your own journey Start your own Conversation If you re anything like me, I particularly urge you You won t regret it

So I finished this book about a week ago and still came to the same conclusion I had about half way through this book The author does a great job of driving home the fact that God loves each and every soul and has walked in every situation there could possibly be The main answer to any question about God and gays is that God is love.

I always feel the need to give a warning disclaimer in such books as these, because I know a lot of people have a lotconservative filters than I do This book doesn t mask the issues in quiet and ambiguous Christianese Langteaux is blunt, in your face, and doesn t mince words The writing style is a bit spastic at first, until I settled into the changing fonts and puns everywhere I was uncertain when I began and as I finished, I found myself crying This is a man who has found the love a I always feel the need to give a warning disclaimer in such books as these, because I know a lot of people have a lotconservative filters than I do This book doesn t mask the issues in quiet and ambiguous Christianese Langteaux is blunt, in your face, and doesn t mince words The writing style is a bit spastic at first, until I settled into the changing fonts and puns everywhere I was uncertain when I began and as I finished, I found myself crying This is a man who has found the love and mercy of God and desires others who are struggling and who feel worthless and unloved and condemned to KNOW HIS LOVE And that is the point of the book It s real It s messy But so is life And God is forgiving and merciful

Author writes about his personal experience with God He shares his personal struggles against flesh and blood and finds Gods redeeming grace abounds all theVery candid storytelling This book will shock some who are hard liners for literal biblical interpretation and who still adhere to fundamentalist views I found my journey with God to be very similar to the authors I laughed and cried and sang oops Meant hummed through the book.

  8. says:

This is an amazing book it s profane, funny, but ultimately sacred It s not about the clobber verses and how to exegete them correctly It s not about a radical transformation of a minister or priest though the author was involved with conservative Christian broadcasters It s just an incredibly powerful book that I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit with me.

Some fascinating and possibly even brilliant points here, and the author s heart is in the right place, but I just wish he could have set his ego aside for even a page or so It would have made this a much better book.

  10. says:

I believe everyone on this planet should read this book The principles are true for the human race as a whole.
