I ve had the Nephilim series on my TBR list for a while, so when this book popped up on Netgalley, I jumped at the offer to read it in exchange for an honest review Even though this is book 2 in the series, it can be read as a standalone, which I obviously did I did not feel like I was missing any relevant information, although both Beth and Dante were introduced in the previous book.A Nephilim is half angel, half human Nephilim live in our world, have regular jobs and date regular people B I ve had the Nephilim series on my TBR list for a while, so when this book popped up on Netgalley, I jumped at the offer to read it in exchange for an honest review Even though this is book 2 in the series, it can be read as a standalone, which I obviously did I did not feel like I was missing any relevant information, although both Beth and Dante were introduced in the previous book.A Nephilim is half angel, half human Nephilim live in our world, have regular jobs and date regular people But Nephilim are also warriors They protect humans from the Shemyaza, Shem for short The Shem started out as angels but have turned evil The Shem hunt humans and eat them Dante is a Nephilim with the ability to control fire, but his daytime job is that of a detective That is how he first came into contact with Beth, a nosy PI Although drawn to each other, they both fight the latent attraction But when a victiom dies right outside Beth s office and the grief stricken husband hires her to look into the murder, they are forced to work together Soon, sparks fly despite Dante s reservations to bring Beth into his world Beth and Dante have good chemistry Despite the friction that s caused by Dante s reservations o bring Beth into his world and Beth s tendency to aggrevate him Their scenes are fun, and yes quite hot More than Beth and Dante, it was the Russian Brother Piotr, that intrigued me the most He is an angelic warrior like Dante, but Dante is deeply distrustful of him because Piotr shares physical characteristics and a last name with the leader of the Shem Piotr seems to be walking a fine line between good and evil, and his obvious vulnerability made him all thefascinating I enjoyed the story, but ultimately it was a fairly standard PNR However, when Piotr s book is released I will be interested in reading his story I think his story will be an interesting one

Better than book one.I ve had this series on my TBR list for a while Though I didn t like book one very much, mainly due to the heroine Abby, I did want to read about the other characters we met.Elizabeth Beth and Dante were a great balance.I found Elizabeth a better heroine as she was muchcapable and sensible and wasn t prone to act stupidly Funny to see Dante falling after all his joking in book one about not going that route.Loved what happened in the end with Dante s powers.Read thro Better than book one.I ve had this series on my TBR list for a while Though I didn t like book one very much, mainly due to the heroine Abby, I did want to read about the other characters we met.Elizabeth Beth and Dante were a great balance.I found Elizabeth a better heroine as she was muchcapable and sensible and wasn t prone to act stupidly Funny to see Dante falling after all his joking in book one about not going that route.Loved what happened in the end with Dante s powers.Read through my library

This is book two in Ms Bells Nephilim series and just let s the world building continue to run A world with both good descendants of angels and also those who are thoroughly evil , the Shemyaza butthan anything a completely original take on what Nephilim could actually be A tireless battle between good and evil and it just so happens that the storyline in this particular book is well and truly hot and yes pun intended Dante is descended from angels and works both as a police detective an This is book two in Ms Bells Nephilim series and just let s the world building continue to run A world with both good descendants of angels and also those who are thoroughly evil , the Shemyaza butthan anything a completely original take on what Nephilim could actually be A tireless battle between good and evil and it just so happens that the storyline in this particular book is well and truly hot and yes pun intended Dante is descended from angels and works both as a police detective and also as an angelic warrior seeking only to destroy the evil Shem He has an overwhelming attraction to a certain feisty private detective but bringing her further into his world would only put her at risk Elizabeth has recently seen the very stuff of nightmares and has no intention of letting the infuriating but gorgeous Dante get under her skin but when she discovers a dead woman literally outside her office their two worlds look set to collide Dante might want to protect Elizabeth but she s not the type of woman to run and hide As they uncover the truth it s clear that age old enemies are to blame but political machinations are also in play When you can t trust those you should rely on just how do you know who the bad guys are Wow what a complicated idea this series is First there are so many different types of angelic descendants that if I m honest I had to keep stopping and remembering who could do what and just which powers they had The good guys all seem to have different abilities ranging from flight to healing and our hero has the gift of utilising fire The bad guys also have diverse talents and both sides have different names for their sub types and if I m really honest it did stop the flow a teeny bit as all this was explained Nevertheless the actual storyline was very interesting with political intrigue, murder and blackmail all playing a part There was a mystery to solve and luckily our heroine Elizabeth was most definitely on the case She s a gung ho type who doesn t seem to flinch away from any challenge and is extremely likeable Elizabeth is also loyal to her friends and I look forward to discoveringabout some of them. Then of course there is Detective Dante Zucco, part angel , part Italian male and most definitely all man He has no trouble in recognising his growing feelings towards Elizabeth and certainly no intention of ever letting her go His Italian family are absolutely hilarious and I could easily imagine the cringing which made me smile There s nothing as annoying as a well meaning family and I thought the author did a really good job in bringing that idea across to the reader. So what can I say A very hot romance inways than one with plenty of chemistry Lots of world building and a suspense filled story that really entertained this reader If you enjoy paranormal romance then start checking out this author as her imagination is top notch

Review copy courtesy of the publisher via NetGalleyOh I liked this one from Dana Marie Bell I read the first of her Nephilim series and liked it pretty well I had a pretty big problem with the heroine in that one though I m so glad that the hero in The Fire Within was so much better and I enjoyed this book a lot .Elizabeth Rand was a kick ass hero She had a great personality full of fire and attitude She s a private investigator and has found that she has something of a knack for gett Review copy courtesy of the publisher via NetGalleyOh I liked this one from Dana Marie Bell I read the first of her Nephilim series and liked it pretty well I had a pretty big problem with the heroine in that one though I m so glad that the hero in The Fire Within was so much better and I enjoyed this book a lot .Elizabeth Rand was a kick ass hero She had a great personality full of fire and attitude She s a private investigator and has found that she has something of a knack for getting under the hero s skin I think that was one of my favorite things about her she knows that she drives him nuts and kind of relishes it She s also really strong and brave, which I thought was really lacking in the first book Elizabeth can for sure take care of herself, and often does With such an amazing hero, it was nice that she was able to hold her own in the bravery department I was so happy that her fearlessness never veered into stupidity Dante Zucco is a police officer AND an angelic warrior His kind s existence is kept a secret except for a few humans close to the warriors Dante isn t keen on Elizabeth knowing his secret but it s too late she s already seen what Dante is and what the warriors are fighting against the Shemyaza demons Dante s specialty is fire It does his bidding and he fights using it It was pretty cool and Dante was pretty great In addition to being a kick ass warrior, he s also a traditional Italian man to whom family is extremely important The scenes with Dante s family were really funny and occasionally frustrating thanks to his meddling older sister I loved it Elizabeth and Dante have serious chemistry Every minute that they re together has tension some of it just funny and some of it sexual I loved these two together The only thing I could maybe complain about was that I was occasionally confused as to who the author was talking about when Elizabeth was around She was sometimes called Elizabeth, especially by Dante But then sometimes, she was referred to as Beth For a while I thought they were two different characters but I m pretty sure they re the same Other than that, it was a pretty great read There are tons of laughs, plenty of action and lots of sibling interference Anyone who enjoys paranormal romance will really enjoy this book
