I read Tempting Acquisitions because book 2 looked really good, so I thought what better time to read book 1 If anything, this cooled me off about reading 2I could not connect with Keira or Nathan, AT ALL They were incredibly boring together and their feud was overdone I need some action Not tap dancing around the same issue.Where the biggest disappointment was Nathan s background There was real juice to that The illegitament child to a mega conglomerate Awesome Except the book p I read Tempting Acquisitions because book 2 looked really good, so I thought what better time to read book 1 If anything, this cooled me off about reading 2I could not connect with Keira or Nathan, AT ALL They were incredibly boring together and their feud was overdone I need some action Not tap dancing around the same issue.Where the biggest disappointment was Nathan s background There was real juice to that The illegitament child to a mega conglomerate Awesome Except the book pretty much glanced over that Damn.No angst No drama Super sticky sweet So sweet, you might get a cavity And lame Much like that joke ARC courtesy of NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

I want to start this review off by saying that this is my first time reading a grocery store romance novel I ve read plenty of romance I happen to LOVE paranormal romance but I haven t read this kind I tried a Harlequin book once and the people boning in a cave on a shelf made of ice wasn t hot I just kept thinking my ass would be FREEZING Since then, I have steered clear.Well, I was contacted by the publisher and asked to consider Tempting Acquisitions for review I read the synopsis I want to start this review off by saying that this is my first time reading a grocery store romance novel I ve read plenty of romance I happen to LOVE paranormal romance but I haven t read this kind I tried a Harlequin book once and the people boning in a cave on a shelf made of ice wasn t hot I just kept thinking my ass would be FREEZING Since then, I have steered clear.Well, I was contacted by the publisher and asked to consider Tempting Acquisitions for review I read the synopsis and it actually sounded really good so I decided to give it a shot.I finished it over a week ago and have been waffling back and forth on what I want to say I am going to try to explain myself as best I can but I want to start by saying that I rated this book at 3 stars Now here s the confusing hot mess of reasoning I am going to be honest here but please know that I am not tearing this book apart Just trying to explain why I am having trouble writing this review. The core story of this book was actually really good The core story is what kept me turning the pages but.Yeah, there s a but.I liked the chemistry between Nathan and Keira but there were a few things that were completely implausible to me We are instantly endeared to the main character Keira She s busted her ass bringing the family business, McBride Media, back to life after her father spent the majority of his career allowing it to simply fall apart Nathan Cooper swoops in, a corporate pirate, with his sights set on taking McBride Media for a profit This woman has poured everything she is and everything she has into making this company successful It is her LIFE This man comes into the picture to take that away from her and.she swoons Within DAYS, mind you.Part of what makes romance novels so much fun for the audience is living this big romantic fantasy through the eyes of the characters As a reader, you get to experience the big romantic gestures and get swept off your feet You get to fall in love over and over again, one book at a time Well, Keira got swept off her feet alright And directly onto her back She slept with this man right after finding out that he plans to buy and dissect her life s work Something she swears she is adamantly against I did not get the smile that comes with two characters hitting it off and sparks flying and throbbing stuff Instead, I wanted to shake the shit out of her WHAT ARE YOU DOING Instead of relating with the character, I could not FATHOM why she was going to pound town with this man In the Godfather, when they said go to the mattresses , they meant go to war with your enemies Not literally GO TO THE MATTRESSES It was very frustrating to witness. Then there s the sex scenes They re really not great Some of the things that are said during said scenes are just that would never happen and even in fantasy , it was just very out of place. Now, with all that being said, I want to reiterate that the story itself is a good story And Nathan and Keira DO have great chemistry Chemistry that is very convincing when they are not in the bedroom The heat that s between them when they re not allowed to bone was WAY hotter than any of the sex scenes And honestly, the way their relationship blossoms and the dialog I mentioned in the sex scenes ALL of it would have been FINE had the book taken place over a longer period of time than..oh.a week or so The timeline was just way too short for the events to feel natural It felt very rushed. So yes, I am giving it 3 stars because I do believe the core story is good but just go into it knowing that there will be things that will frustrate you

4 stars. This review also appears on Pretty Sassy Cool. Both the cover and the title of this quick, fun read are kind of cheesy, but I really liked this book a lot Kiera McBride and her sisters have taken over the family media empire, over the last eight years, have brought it from the brink of shutting down Nathan Cooper is known throughout the business world for taking over floundering companies and dismantling them He s handsome and charismatic, and excellent at what he does, so when he se 4 stars. This review also appears on Pretty Sassy Cool. Both the cover and the title of this quick, fun read are kind of cheesy, but I really liked this book a lot Kiera McBride and her sisters have taken over the family media empire, over the last eight years, have brought it from the brink of shutting down Nathan Cooper is known throughout the business world for taking over floundering companies and dismantling them He s handsome and charismatic, and excellent at what he does, so when he sets his sights on McBride Media, the sisters are understandably upset They decide they re not going down without a fight, though. She took in the sharp planes of his face and the piercing blue of his eyes, evident even in a black and white photograph Ignoring the completely inappropriate rush of attraction, she focused on the task at hand It was time to prepare her battle plan She d worked too hard to save her family s legacy and make it something they were proud of again There was no way a corporate pirate with a cocky smile was going to take it away from her.Of course, the attraction to each other that they both feel cannot be denied It s just like I said It s simple Simple It was anything but And what is that supposed to mean It means there s something between us Something very good There s no reason not to act on it We re healthy, single adults At war with each other One doesn t have to affect the other She resisted the urge to gasp, instead channeling the sudden charge of anger to focus her wayward thought The man might be able to kiss like a pro, but he wasn t about to use it or her to railroad her company There is no one Or other, for that matter What s the phrase He swirled the wine in his glass, a thoughtful expression on his face Make love, not war Seeing as how I m not a peace loving hippie or a woman who goes down without a fight, I don t see how it applies We want each other That s enough And so the story goes, with Nathan convincing Kiera that they are able to keep what happens in the business world out of the bedroom What they don t count on is that their feelings for each other show up in every aspect of their lives He respects her, and they want to be together Even her sisters encourage her to give the relationship a chance love isn t rational or convenient or practical I don t want to spoil the ending, but I will say that I can t wait forfrom this author There are two companion books planned, and I wish I had them yesterday.I loved Kiera and Nathan, which is something that doesn t usually happen for me Though I think she fell into bed with him too soon and way too naively, her reluctance to trust him was realistic She was smart and I liked her character Nathan I liked how much Nathan believed things could be black and white that they could have wild monkey sex one night and the next morning, negotiate the takeover of her company It didn t hurt that he was hot and was genuinely a good person I also liked all of the other characters and how quickly the story was paced What didn t I like Though it was the premise of the story, I didn t love the fact that Kiera allowed herself to sleep with Nathan I just can t see that happening in real life Waiting until it was all over Maybe I also thought the ending was a little too wrapped up in a bow Don t get me wrong, I loved it, but I also don t think it felt real. All in all, Tempting Acquisitions was a clever, hot, fun read You want to grab this one, too Forreviews and bookish talk, visit our blog at Pretty Sassy Cool

Tempting Acquisitions by Addison FoxReceived from Entangled PublishingRelease Date Available NowReviewed by Middle Sis JennTempting Acquisitions employs one of my favorite romance paradigms the enemies who fall in love I just love stories where two people fight and fight, throwing sharp words and steely glances at each other but then are inextricably attracted to each and can t seem to get passed those feelings The tension builds and builds until it explodes into something fiery and passion Tempting Acquisitions by Addison FoxReceived from Entangled PublishingRelease Date Available NowReviewed by Middle Sis JennTempting Acquisitions employs one of my favorite romance paradigms the enemies who fall in love I just love stories where two people fight and fight, throwing sharp words and steely glances at each other but then are inextricably attracted to each and can t seem to get passed those feelings The tension builds and builds until it explodes into something fiery and passionate Best Paradigm Ever Keira is a strong willed, beautiful CEO of a media empire, and Nathan is the gorgeous, cold hearted man who is determined to take over her company I really like when the female MC is stubborn and confident, knowing she is both talented and beautiful I like this in a romance story because it gives the female some power that she can use to twirl the guy around her finger Keira is that woman, and I really enjoyed watching her confidence as she managed her company and Nathan However, there were vulnerabilities there that didn t make her too strong, giving Nathan the chance to swoop in and make her stumble just a bit This made for some great romance scenes Nathan was a type of alpha male not the type you see in romantic suspense novels where he can take out a guy with one punch, but the kind that sees what he wants and doesn t let anything get in his way I enjoyed Nathan s confidence and bantering, and I really like it when a guy is so confident that he just knows he s going to get the girl and says so out loud multiple times It might seem conceited to people, but I just fall for those guys I like them strong and determined, and Nathan was definitely that While I really enjoyed the characters that Addison created, the story itself felt a bit rushed in the romance department I just felt, with the circumstances the way they were, a girl like Keira wouldn t just fall straight into bed with a guy like Nathan, no matter how strong the attraction I think they neededone on one time, meetings, dinners, etc to cement their relationship and make their feelingsbelievable I think the I love you s were really rushed, not that it couldn t happen that fast, but their personalities just seemed to be so guarded that I don t think they would let themselves truly fall that quickly Overall, I really enjoyed this romance, and I look forward to the companion novels from Addison It was a quick and fun read, and the romance was steamy without going overboard I had been in a slump with the last few Entangled books not sitting well with me, but this one brought me out of it

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers To view it, click here NetGalley free readI m sorry to say there wasn t much to this story I found myself at the end, still questioning Nathan s motivations in buying the McBride Media empire Yes, he s a corporate rader But that still doesn t explain the motivation when the author makes it seem like there s something behind it When even his best friend and number two at his company asks him why he s bothering with it.At the beginning there seemed to be some sort of revenge in play But when you discover he s never NetGalley free readI m sorry to say there wasn t much to this story I found myself at the end, still questioning Nathan s motivations in buying the McBride Media empire Yes, he s a corporate rader But that still doesn t explain the motivation when the author makes it seem like there s something behind it When even his best friend and number two at his company asks him why he s bothering with it.At the beginning there seemed to be some sort of revenge in play But when you discover he s never met the McBrides, not any member of the family, then you realize, no revenge happening There are two instances where you think Nathan may change his mind First when Kiera tells him about her father and how he went from being a family man with a good head for business to almost destroying the entire empire and having affiars You think he could understand the drive by the sisters to rebuild their lives and business to reflect not only what was past but what they could do as well Also when Nathan tells Kiera about how his mother loved the magazine that put the media empire back in profits and how she would pour over it, you think that this good memory may change his mind Then his father comes in and pushes his buttons, buttons I m still unclear of, he changes goes at it full blown It seems like his father wants him to take over McBride Media, but again I don t know why.Nathan s brother Booth comes into the mix, having some sort of relationship with Camryn, but again, never quite sure what the relationship is Especially when Booth seems to want the women to keep their business It s just all kind of muddled for me.I believe their love and Nathan s subsequent marriage proposal happened a little quickly, but I get it under the contraints of the limited pages of the book I just thought it was fast Maybe if they had known or met each other in the past He didn t realize she was of the same McBrides I don t know, just something that gave themthan a weekend in Vegas and a day at the zoo before declaring love and marriage.Just not enough there for me I didn t hate it because it was short and quick, but I would t recommend it

I liked the simple romance with business verbage thrown in there Keira and her 2 sisters had to rebuild a company that her father messed up over 2 decades which was started by their grandfather There is a fella named Nathan who wants to buy out the company but also has an infatuation with Kiera. It is part of a trilogy and I am excited to start the 2nd one.
