I started this book assuming I would really like it It started out good, you meet Alyssa Barton explaining to her professor why she has to leave school Alyssa is determined to not be a statistic and not graduate because she has to temporarily leave school Alyssa is going home to help her dad cope with the death of her mum Once she gets home , she finds out the situation with her dad is worse than she thought Her dad gets a bizarre phone call from Preston Webb He is the heir to the oil tyco I started this book assuming I would really like it It started out good, you meet Alyssa Barton explaining to her professor why she has to leave school Alyssa is determined to not be a statistic and not graduate because she has to temporarily leave school Alyssa is going home to help her dad cope with the death of her mum Once she gets home , she finds out the situation with her dad is worse than she thought Her dad gets a bizarre phone call from Preston Webb He is the heir to the oil tycoons property that joins theirs He wants to meet Alyssa but she can t see him they have to talk through the door This is to me where the story goes off the rails for me Alyssa gets so excited to meet Preston, she s giddy like a 15 year old Nobody seems to think it is bizarre that they are going to talk through the door This is where the story goeslike a 18th century melodrama than a new adult book I really struggled with the story from this point forward Alyssa went from a college student with her head on her shoulder to a completely different character I don t want to give to much away but there is a lot of cloak and dagger and frustrating moments I struggled between the 2 and 3 stars

This book left me frustrated The story line was so cryptic I found myself re reading sections thinking I missed something So first off, how the hell was Preston kept prisoner in his own house for 32 years The author never delves into this and I think it was a pretty important piece of the story How does Gadsen have control over him Again no real explanations The there s the kidnapping of Alyssa Ok WTF why doesn t Preston do anything about it Peters actions make no sense either Then t This book left me frustrated The story line was so cryptic I found myself re reading sections thinking I missed something So first off, how the hell was Preston kept prisoner in his own house for 32 years The author never delves into this and I think it was a pretty important piece of the story How does Gadsen have control over him Again no real explanations The there s the kidnapping of Alyssa Ok WTF why doesn t Preston do anything about it Peters actions make no sense either Then there s the scenes with the board that hint at some conspiracy but you don t learn any details Some how through this clusterfuck Alyssa tries to help Preston get to the bottom of the mystery of his mothers death and Gadsens actions, she ends up hurt but has sex with Preston anyway and of course they re both virgins Then after a week of being held at Preston s house, they go home and give a super brief explanation to her father and he s only kinda ticked off then they proclaim their love for each other and that s the end. This book had a lot of promise it just didn t deliver

this book was horrible I got 60% through before I just couldn t muddle through it any longer the story line is so fragmented I eventually had no idea who knew about whose plans and who was helping who the editing was pretty terrible to..the word Ryan inserted in anything like prickled or pricked sooooo weird what a waste of 2.99.
