I have to say, Ms Shepherd s writing was spell binding Very detailed and descriptive, the wording sucked you in, not only helping you see the world, but to hear, smell and taste it The intense cold of Alaska sharply contrasted with the heat of the Great Plains The characters were magnificently drawn You were high as a kite when they were happy, and wanting to drop off a cliff when they were in despair I remember reading a review on Mockingjay where the person tore Suzanne Collins apart f I have to say, Ms Shepherd s writing was spell binding Very detailed and descriptive, the wording sucked you in, not only helping you see the world, but to hear, smell and taste it The intense cold of Alaska sharply contrasted with the heat of the Great Plains The characters were magnificently drawn You were high as a kite when they were happy, and wanting to drop off a cliff when they were in despair I remember reading a review on Mockingjay where the person tore Suzanne Collins apart for not letting Katniss make better decisions while she was suffering from PTSD Well, duh, maybe one s incapable of thinking straight when suffering under that syndrome The female protagonist in Lantern has the same problem, yet even though some of her decision making is cringe worthy, the reader doesn t blame Shelbrook for it, even though Collins certainly got the bullet in the back a few times.l

I first found out about this book through Twitter, read the description and got it right away It was a gripping story and so heartbreaking to see everything this poor girl went through just to survive I really hope there will be a book 2 because things are still left unfinished between her and Sam and I really want to see them grow closer It made sense that she was not ready for anything with him in this book, so I understand that, but it still left me wanting
