I read alot, and usually only rate books for myself for future reference I don t write alot of reviews, and it takes a pretty special book, and an amazing author for me to consider writing a full review So here goes, please bear with me, as I said I am definately a reader and not a writer Ryan Moore isn t your typical book hero, he isn t overly confident, cocksure and full of self belief like alot of the guys I have read POV s of recently, and don t get me wrong I love that too, but it s just I read alot, and usually only rate books for myself for future reference I don t write alot of reviews, and it takes a pretty special book, and an amazing author for me to consider writing a full review So here goes, please bear with me, as I said I am definately a reader and not a writer Ryan Moore isn t your typical book hero, he isn t overly confident, cocksure and full of self belief like alot of the guys I have read POV s of recently, and don t get me wrong I love that too, but it s just nice to read about a guy who sometimes isn t as comfortable with himself, and how he imagines he seems to others in a humble and at times in a shy and insecure way However, in this instance it makes the book all thespecial, in that you get to read about a beautiful guy who is just a little bit lonely, filled with alot of self doubt, and hasthan a few demons to exorcise before he can move on and enjoy the happiness he deserves You get to feel that, than once I wanted to give Ryan a hug to make up for his self doubt, and even though I knew what was going to happen it still had that just onechapter pull that made me stay up way past my bedtime Ranae has given a very vivid and real account of a man dealing with the aftermath of a devastating accident whilst serving in the USMC in Afghanistan Returning with TBI and PTSD, after an honourable discharge Ryan is trying to live his life as normally as he can, meeting Ally pushes him to address some of his demons and realise that he can live again and not just exist from one day to the next Ryan I don t feel that way when I m with you Ally What like you re just existing Ryan Yeah When you re around, I feel alive Like I m living in realtime again instead of watching everything pass by It was true and it was amazingI loved being on the journey that Ryan took, at the beginning his lack of self worth, and that he deserved to be loved and respected just as he was To the point when he realized that it was OK to want a future and happiness, and not to define himself by the parts of himself that were different Another of my favourite passages, also highlights Ryan s growing feelings for Ally, and how they push him to acknowledge he isthan the broken guy he believes himself to be Nothing else mattered when he was inside her The intensity of being wrapped in her heat and wetness demanded all his attention, snared his focus everything else was just a memory Her body was forgetfulness and bliss without violence something he hadn t realized was within reach until the first time he d slid inside her It was amazing, f ing amazing.I would highly recommend that you read Battered Not Broken first if you have the opportunity to, as it is written in Ally s POV, and it makes reading Rough Around the Edges all thepoignant, when you read what is actually going through Ryan s mind when he is with her it is also another brilliant book.Although you can read Rough Around the Edges as a standalone nothing is missing, and I cannot recommend it highly enough I loved it from start to finish I fell in love with Ryan and Ally in Battered Not Broken, reading Ryan s thoughts feelings and the reasons for his actions in Rough Around the Edges, made me fall in love with him all over again A weekend well spent, and I have no doubt I will go back and revisit Ryan and Ally again and again It was an honour and privilege to be provided with an ARC of this book, and for that I am happy to provide the above review

4 stars and a littleHis usefulness to the United State Marine Corps had flatlined in the wake of a single second that had left him absurdly whole and alive while crumbling his life the parts that mattered most around him Ryan Moore craved purpose in his life, he shunned his affluent family s idyllic life and joined the Marines, and then an IED ended Ryan Moore s military career Unsure of how to go on he moved to Balti and finds work as a roofer, but not until he walks into Knock 4 stars and a littleHis usefulness to the United State Marine Corps had flatlined in the wake of a single second that had left him absurdly whole and alive while crumbling his life the parts that mattered most around him Ryan Moore craved purpose in his life, he shunned his affluent family s idyllic life and joined the Marines, and then an IED ended Ryan Moore s military career Unsure of how to go on he moved to Balti and finds work as a roofer, but not until he walks into Knockout, an MMA gym, does he feel alive On that first walk about in the gym, he sees her, the first woman to catch his eye since his injury, Ally Rivera Rough Around The Edges is the same story as Battered Not Broken but from Ryan s point of view When I read Battered I craved Ryan s point of view, I wanted to know the why, and I wanted to knowbackground of his character Ranae Rose did not disappoint, Rough is Ryan Rough has moments of raw emotion, and some sweet moments We see Ryan really struggle with the effects of TBI, and where in Battered we might get the impression that he is being stubborn when Ally offers help, in Rough we see how the effects of TBI are on his self worth and my love of Ryan grew His internal battle to make his life matter was wonderful, and I could feel his love for Ally on each page Fighting is the only damn thing I m still good at And besides you, it s the only thing I give a damn about any Giving it up would be like lying down and waiting to die Rough Around The Edges is not a sequel, it does not continue the story of Battered Not Broken but it does enhance it And actually either book can be read first, but both should be read to get the full story of Ryan and Ally s love It is rare to see both sides of a story Often authors do give us multiple points of view, but rarely do we get to see a scene from both main characters Even though I knew the main plot points of this story since I had read and reviewed Battered Not Broken I was still drawn to read I finished this book in under a day I found myself longing to see what Ryan thought during a particular scene and was very pleased to read scenes that were not in Battered such as the Epilogue that takes place after the Epilogue in Battered.I received both books from the author for my honest review If I had to pick a favorite among the two it would be Rough Around The Edges by a glove I hope Ranae Rose gives us glimpse at Ryan and Ally s wedding one day

FINALLY RYAN S POINT OF VIEW I was so excited to read this because as everyone knows it s a lotfun to read a bookie in a males perspective because well they don t hold anything back and that was the case with Ryan He s still just as sweet, I hope you ll cheer for me too, then I don t think I could lose if you were screaming my name in the audience We also totally see how thoughtful he is, She d obviously been into the kiss, but that didn t mean she wanted to be dry humped against t FINALLY RYAN S POINT OF VIEW I was so excited to read this because as everyone knows it s a lotfun to read a bookie in a males perspective because well they don t hold anything back and that was the case with Ryan He s still just as sweet, I hope you ll cheer for me too, then I don t think I could lose if you were screaming my name in the audience We also totally see how thoughtful he is, She d obviously been into the kiss, but that didn t mean she wanted to be dry humped against the mustang in the middle of a parking lot See totally thoughtful, and inways then one I don t mean sexually people well of course he is in that aspect but I mean in other ways as well She really wanted to learn to drive, denying her the chance to practice when he was fortunate enough to own a car would be a d move He also knows how to speak how he feels a quality that s seriously hard to come by now and days I love you in a way I could never love anyone else A part of me knew that the first time I laid eyes on you, and I knew it for sure the first time I ate breakfast with you I want to spend every night with you and eat breakfast with you every morning for the rest of my life Also I really liked how we got to see what went down with Manny and Ryan when they were going after Ally s shooter in Ally s book we didn t get to see what went down as that was told in her point of view, so in her book I was like WTF what happened So that means I like this bookas we getdetails in EVERYTHING

Once again Rose has brought us into her sexy version of the MMA world My review of Rough is similar to Battered, with the exception being that we get to navigate the relationship between Allie and Ryan through Ryan s eyes this time around To spite the fact that I already knew the basis of the story, it was still exciting to have the different viewpoint of events as they unfolded To delve into Ryan s mind this time around and see Allie through his eyes, the way he has loved her since he first Once again Rose has brought us into her sexy version of the MMA world My review of Rough is similar to Battered, with the exception being that we get to navigate the relationship between Allie and Ryan through Ryan s eyes this time around To spite the fact that I already knew the basis of the story, it was still exciting to have the different viewpoint of events as they unfolded To delve into Ryan s mind this time around and see Allie through his eyes, the way he has loved her since he first laid eyes on her, the way she makes him feel And to experience the pain he endures, the remnants of the damage permanently etched into Ryan from an IED injury in Iraq, was evenheartbreaking than seeing it through Allie s eyes in Battered.I definitely recommend this book to any romance novel fans, especially if you want something fresh in two strong lead characters that manage to maintain a balance in equal control over their relationship copy of my review of Battered not Broken Battered not Broken is an adult themed story that follows the rocky relationship between Ryan Moore and Ally Rivera Warning, this book is NC17, intended for mature audiences due to some intense violence and gritty love scenes.Ryan Moore is an Iragi War Veteran struggling to make a life for himself in the real world after his short stint in the military left him with a brain injury from and IED Determined not to accept the assistance his wealthy family offers, that comes with strings attached, he throws himself into the violent world of MMA fighting The only thing he thinks he s any good at.Ally Rivera has suffered a different kind of violence that lead her to the MMA world as well Her father is in jail for assaulting the man that assaulted Ally when she was just a teenager, and her brother is kneck deep in gang violence She works in her mother s salon, works out at the local gym and fights women s MMA on weekends It s at the local gym she first meets the reserved, sexy new member, Ryan Moore.Sparks fly immediately and soon these two are an unlikely and unseperable couple in and out of the ring When Ryan s injury becomes harder for him to deal with, he takes it out on Ally, and pushes her away He quickly realizes his error in judgement, but Ally s brothers gang affiliation not only adds another kink to the chain, but costs a few people their lives as well In the end will Ryan and Ally still be standing And if they are, will they be able to overcome all the obstacles life throws at them in order to be together This book is a wonderful tribute to our Military men and women, showcasing the struggle some soldiers have living thier lives in the aftermath of the uglieness that is War Rose s unbiased account of Ryan s struggles with the lasting effects of injuries sustained from an IED in Afghanistan, and how it spills over into his everyday life was spot on She definitely did her research into the topic, and poured that knowledge into the character of Ryan.Rose steams up the pages with her usual sexy as hell style Her attention to detail is that perfect balance of just enough, but not too much Ryan is definitely battered on paper he is a dud, but he loves Ally ultimately and selflessly, prooving he isn t broken The scars he carries and his rawness just make him even sexier I give this one 5 5. but that s just my two cents i received a copy of this book from the author, in exchange for an honest review

I received an ARC for an honest review.Ryan Moore is an Iraq War veteran whose career in the Marines was cut short after he survived an IED blast which left him with a traumatic brain injury TBI Ryan struggles to embrace his new life working as a roofer while re entering the world of Mixed Martial Arts MMA It is only in the ring that Ryan feels alive again until he meets female MMA competitor Ally Rivera at the gym and begins romantic pursuit of her This story is the same from Battered N I received an ARC for an honest review.Ryan Moore is an Iraq War veteran whose career in the Marines was cut short after he survived an IED blast which left him with a traumatic brain injury TBI Ryan struggles to embrace his new life working as a roofer while re entering the world of Mixed Martial Arts MMA It is only in the ring that Ryan feels alive again until he meets female MMA competitor Ally Rivera at the gym and begins romantic pursuit of her This story is the same from Battered Not Broken, however, it is told from Ryan s perspective The author does an outstanding job of demonstrating the difficulties that individuals suffering from TBI can face from slower thought processing, difficulty recalling words when speaking, debilitating headaches, visual auras, among other issues Additionally, the descriptions of the fight scenes and training including the time commitment necessary for anyone who actually does MMA is very accurate and realistic While reading, I can practically smell the sweat and hear the body blows While other authors may create characters who practice MMA, Ms Rose delivers an accurate portrayal of what life of an MMA competitor, even at the amateur level is like for the reader.I was pulled into the story from the first page and found it difficult to put the book down I appreciate the time and effort the author has obviously devoted to researching and providing authentic and accurate information in her writing I highly recommend this book
