This book completely SHOCKED ME The ending is CRAZY I didn t read this book for the characters despite the fact they were well written I disliked practically every character for one reason or another I didn t like how quickly Cass dumped Julian or that she was so self interested I hated Julian, the man was a master manipulator with serious control issues Jaemon was a gullible and naive believer in an asshole The asshole being the Master who was probably best friends with every evil person This book completely SHOCKED ME The ending is CRAZY I didn t read this book for the characters despite the fact they were well written I disliked practically every character for one reason or another I didn t like how quickly Cass dumped Julian or that she was so self interested I hated Julian, the man was a master manipulator with serious control issues Jaemon was a gullible and naive believer in an asshole The asshole being the Master who was probably best friends with every evil person you can think of The other scientists were hella, annoying but I did like the military people They were great, in fact the only sane person in this whole book was Lewis, the military commander He was super paranoid about aliens even after they saved his life but I liked him Every character developed with the massive changes thrown at their feet but it wasn t them that held my interest It was the plot, the story, the intricately woven strands of deceit, power, love, manipulation and loyalty I thought that I was reading a straight forward alien romance but this story continues to surprise with one unexpected discovery or revelation after the next I wanted to why Why the aliens, the black hole, Jaemon, the freaky monster things and the crazy idea that Cass was Queen What was going on with the Master, the dreams, the planet and where was this all going to end up Good lord was my curiosity at an all time high But when I got to the end I just hadquestions This wasn t bad but it was super annoying because I have no patience and now I have to wait to find out what happens next Obviously that means I will be ready to pounce on the sequel the moment it comes into existence If you like sci fi and fantasy and don t mind a little a really little bit of romance on the side then you are going to LOVE this book Think Mistborn series without the super powers andscience.xxxGeorgeCheck out the full review

I m extremely picky when it comes to my sci fi reads Yes, I read a lot of science fiction books, yet it is rare for me to become truly addicted to such series My expectations are usually quite high, the scientific part of my mind in overdrive Therefore, I went into this book the same way I go into all science fiction books I went in with my fingers crossed and tentatively clawing at the back of my mind.I ll admit that it took me a few chapters before I was pulled into this book Whilst it w I m extremely picky when it comes to my sci fi reads Yes, I read a lot of science fiction books, yet it is rare for me to become truly addicted to such series My expectations are usually quite high, the scientific part of my mind in overdrive Therefore, I went into this book the same way I go into all science fiction books I went in with my fingers crossed and tentatively clawing at the back of my mind.I ll admit that it took me a few chapters before I was pulled into this book Whilst it was interesting from the start, it took me a few chapters before I was completely pulled into the story This was mainly because the story was being set out, the characters introduced, and it was necessary information before the story really started to move It was enjoyable, yet it feltlike a three star strolling alone read than a four star rating Then things started to move, the book jumping to a solid four star rating. It s one of those stories where things go from merely moving forward to an all out sprint One moment you re merely reading the book, the next you re truly living the story You re pulled in, unable to put the book down The story and the characters grip you, each and every element of the story interesting you in some way You may not like everything that occurs, but you ll be interested to see how things play out You know throughout that all of the elements are going to come together you re constantly looking for how everything connects.I m going to be honest by admitting to something I wasn t as surprised by some of the twists as I probably should have been In fact, I managed to predict most of the big twists from quite early on I wasn t sure about the little things, of how things played out, and such is what stopped me from rolling my eyes when my expectations turned out to be the reality of the situation You see, the little details are so wonderful All the little things come together so well that working out the big plot details wasn t as detrimental as it could have been I was still able to watch the little things unfold I was able to appreciate the much bigger picture behind the things I managed to work out.Not to mention the story is all kinds of addictive You re really sucked into the world, you come to enjoy the characters so much, and it has all the necessary elements to leave you wantingEven when you re aware of things, you re still curious about the new details being introduced There is always somethingfor you to figure out, always somethingto pull you in.Honestly, this was a wonderful story I was addicted from start to finish, the ending leaving me jumping straight into the second book. This is well worth a read for anyone looking for a new sci fi book to dive into

So Dreams of the Queen was interesting There are things I liked and things I didn t like.I ll start with my likes The story was well thought out and intriguing The characters were well developed and you could easily love, hate or feel indifferent about them The twists and turns were unexpected well for me.My dislikes Too many descriptive words Now I should preface this by saying I m not a sci fi fan I normally usually steer well clear of books like this Not that they aren t good, n So Dreams of the Queen was interesting There are things I liked and things I didn t like.I ll start with my likes The story was well thought out and intriguing The characters were well developed and you could easily love, hate or feel indifferent about them The twists and turns were unexpected well for me.My dislikes Too many descriptive words Now I should preface this by saying I m not a sci fi fan I normally usually steer well clear of books like this Not that they aren t good, nope I m just not that kind of a girl I like to stick to things I understand I don t understand sci fi I do understand romance and love and mushy stuff I kind of felt dumb reading this book I m hoping that s not the authors intention LOL I m pretty sure her intention isn t to make the readers feel dumb But I did Here s an exampleShe d agreed to the engagementout of an obligation to satisfy Julian s male territorialism rather than any feminine, biological imperative I read this sentence to my daughter she s 14 and smarter than me sometimes , she just looked at me So I moved on to my son he s 19 and definitely smarter than me , he said uh So I waited for my husband to come home for work My husband reads a lot He reads mostly Star Wars books Not that reading Star Wars makes him smarter, because he s definitely not smarter than me love you baby But he s used to big words in books He hesitated and then said biological imperative makes me think she s discussing her period I m not lying people You can t make up this stuff So I pondered at this point how do I proceed What if the whole book is like this Am I going to understand anything I was scared mostly because when I start a book I don t like to give up Even books that I don t like I will finish It wasn t that I didn t like this book So I finally decided to plow forward I m glad I did.For a long time I didn t like any of the characters in the book It took me awhile to warm up to Cass and once I did I loved her Things just seemed to click with her after the book really picked up with the story I absolutely LOVED Lewis and Jeamon They were my favorites and I would love to read stories based around those two My favorite line of the bookWas this love in its purest form unrequited yet all consuming and unselfish This is a great interpretation of what this book is about sci fi, dreams, wormholes aside.I found myself skipping words sometimes I hate that I do that but there were just too many descriptive words and I didn t need to readShe need to concentrate on her present surroundings, to avoid her terrible tendency to detether mentally, occasionally at inopportune moments as her mind problem solved I m pretty sure that could have been summed up by saying she was zoning out againCass stared into lab s bathroom mirror tiny crimson capillaries traced the whites of her hazel eyes like a crazed Egyptian treasure map to nowhere sighBlood oozed maroonish rivulets over Brown s skin, soaking his think cotton camo and coating his gloved fingers to drip like syrup onto the stone floor The narrow beam of light exposed the truth through Brown s cut away clothing, and the faint glint of a pinked, cream bone peeked beneath shredded red sigh.I think you get the point I m trying to make.So my biggest complaint about this book has to do with a few sentences that were written I may be taking this out of context but I was so surprised I had to go back and re read itIn comparison, her scientists were fumblingly inept their helmets rolled on tables and banged into equipment while they fidgeted inside their tin can suits and she winced Then she reminded herself the soldiers combined IQ barely dented hers and Julian s, never mind her entire scientific teams I can only speak for myself here but I found this to be offensive Maybe because I m an Army brat as is my husband I just really feel like making the assumption that Cass and her group wereintelligent based on what, the fact that they re military, is very wrong Are we really making that assumption I m hoping I misunderstood Is any of this enough to keep me from reading the next book Heck no Can t wait to see where the story goes from here A copy of this book was supplied by the author in return for an honest review

THIS BOOK COMPLETELY BLEW MY MIND Author Jacqueline Patricks writes a powerful sci fi story and completely changes the game Using a deft hand Ms Patricks totally tilts the chessboard I was at first intrigued, then enthralled and finally completely and totally spellbound An amazing book that hastwists and tangles than an eight year old girls hair. When I first read this blurb on Netgalley, I was intrigued It looked like a promising premise Then I started it and had a few moments o THIS BOOK COMPLETELY BLEW MY MIND Author Jacqueline Patricks writes a powerful sci fi story and completely changes the game Using a deft hand Ms Patricks totally tilts the chessboard I was at first intrigued, then enthralled and finally completely and totally spellbound An amazing book that hastwists and tangles than an eight year old girls hair. When I first read this blurb on Netgalley, I was intrigued It looked like a promising premise Then I started it and had a few moments of well, deja vu Sexy scientist working on a wormhole thinking she was completely on her own but instead secretly being backed by the government Then when it s time for the mission, the military steps in and suddenly all bets are off Hmmm, shades of Avatar anyone Except. it is seriously NOTHING like Avatar. Ok, there is a scientist, there is the military, there are aliens involved. but it s a whole nother ball park The further into this book I went theI wanted It was a deep and dangerous drug keeping me up until all hours of the night and making me think Yes darn it, this book made me think Dr Cassiopeia Baros, is brilliant, driven, socially inept, snarky, arrogant, did I mention brilliant She has one passion and one passion only, figuring out the physics of traveling through a wormhole to a distant location She is so driven by this goal that it visits her in her dreams. or her dreams have driven this goal While Cass is all that is brilliant she is not what one would call a people person She leaves that to erstwhile fiance Julian He manages the people, the brass, sometimes even Jacqueline Helping her to forge through all the red tape and political BS that one has to do to get a grant Cass, appreciates him, really she does She is just totally unconnected to the world around her Something is missing in her and she knows it So she feels for Julian and is willing to commit to him Only lately, she hasn t been sharing as much with him. and she really should as her dreams are gettingandpowerful.Jeamon, is leader to the brajj, second only to the Master and has spent his entire life serving his people He is dedicated, loyal and true and has been sent by the Master to collect the new queen Her arrival is imminent and all he needs to do is traverse the outer lands, avoid the inferiors if possible and kill them if not, collect the Queen and return her to the many city His people are dying and only the Queen can replenish them Seems simple enough, right Only once he actually sees the Queen his entire world is thrown for a loop There is something special about her and in his very heart he knows, she is his Convincing her isn t that difficult, convincing her fiance. well that s a different story And her escort Yeah. one soldier to another things are just not that simple There is just so much to this story. so much power and passion Desperation and Desire A team of Scientists bent on exploring a new world A Military escort unwanted and resented now me, if I was gonna be stepping through a wormhole into an entire new world. I would seriously want that escort, call me silly Power plays and political maneuvering. and that s just in the first chapter Weeding your way through the magic of Ms Patrick s story is an intense delight Greed, Jealousy and Power. the three desires that rule the world, it s true and you know it, but in Dreams of the Queen we see both sides of humanity and alienanity the good and the bad Those trying to serve their country and those despots that want only to serve themselves And honestly, we don t know who is who until the very end Some characters really surprise you I can not say enough about this book and seriously recommend all of you read it Run do not walk to your nearest I am so looking forward to Nightmares of the Queen.
