4.5 starsBelies the notion that category romance is all shallow and superficial See Dabney s review.

A sweet romance that touches your soul Darcy and Emma s story was heartbreaking and you could not help but feel for all they went through and understand the way their marriage ended up It was heartwarming to see them reconnect and be able to work out their issues Little Billy was a cutie pie, and added just the right dose of sweetness to the story.

Ugh Both main characters got on my nerves The only thing I liked about this book was its cover.

I liked this I thought it was one of the better ones of the genre I did put it down for a while, but that seems to be something I do these days. There s a lot going on, but I think Kilby really does justice to it all and, if anything, it went on a little too long It also felt very real as people dealt with the various issues having kids or NOT having kids can bring.I also thought it did a good job showing real, not annoying, miscommunication I really understood why they had trouble communicat I liked this I thought it was one of the better ones of the genre I did put it down for a while, but that seems to be something I do these days. There s a lot going on, but I think Kilby really does justice to it all and, if anything, it went on a little too long It also felt very real as people dealt with the various issues having kids or NOT having kids can bring.I also thought it did a good job showing real, not annoying, miscommunication I really understood why they had trouble communicating and didn t quite understand what the other person was really thinking.Anyway, I m going to keep Joan Kilby in mind for when I m in the mood for contemporary romance

Second chance stories come in all types and sizes This one is better than most because of the secrets surrounding the mutual tragedy this ex wife and ex husband share and how their newborn son helps them to see beyond the past to savor the present and look to future.Set in Australia, it could have occurred anywhere, but the atmosphere created in Darcy s pub and around Emma s work as a geriatric nurse bring additional reality to this touching story.Warning you may need a hanky at times.

Kudos for taking on search difficult themes like losing a child and post natal depression That s what the 2 stars are for Unfortunately I didn t think she managed to carry them off sympathetically, in particular with respect to the h I could quote chapter and verse on the h s contrary behaviour, but I can t be bothered Not all her thoughts and actions could be put down to the difficulties she s facing I didn t find the H particularly likable but at least he wasn t so contrary Ended by skim Kudos for taking on search difficult themes like losing a child and post natal depression That s what the 2 stars are for Unfortunately I didn t think she managed to carry them off sympathetically, in particular with respect to the h I could quote chapter and verse on the h s contrary behaviour, but I can t be bothered Not all her thoughts and actions could be put down to the difficulties she s facing I didn t find the H particularly likable but at least he wasn t so contrary Ended by skimming the last third of the book

I don t think I ve ever read a book that simultaneously makes me want to cry and sigh and go aww It delves quite surprisingly deep into the H h s emotions for a book in this genre, I really enjoyed it The history the couple share is heartbreaking, and the way they plod through their encounter s together is exasperating at times, but it s definitely worth it in the end.
