This This was what I needed A compelling contemporary with a heart stopping romance and beautiful friendships Granted, this was by no means a light read It was dark and intense, which admittedly is the kind of book I usually go for But aside from revelling in this side of the story, the pages of Sometimes Never are home to characters I fell head over heels in love with Cheryl McIntyre has, without a doubt, made it onto my list of favourite authors.Hope s life has been far from easy She ne This This was what I needed A compelling contemporary with a heart stopping romance and beautiful friendships Granted, this was by no means a light read It was dark and intense, which admittedly is the kind of book I usually go for But aside from revelling in this side of the story, the pages of Sometimes Never are home to characters I fell head over heels in love with Cheryl McIntyre has, without a doubt, made it onto my list of favourite authors.Hope s life has been far from easy She never knew her father, and her mother was uninterested in raising a daughter, instead either leaving the house unexpectedly or bringing home undesirable company Then she died For the past few years Hope s lived with a foster family, and while she s much better off than before, she still can t erase the pain and the scars that her past has inflicted on her And love Out of the question Mason is now at his eighth school in five years, a result of his mother s constant desire to move He s tired of not being able to stick around long enough to make proper friends, tired of having to leave places behind especially his home of Illinois He lets his temper get the best of him and uses girls as a way of trying to forget and to lose himself, but doesn t really believe in love. And then they meet And everything changes.McIntyre deals with difficult issues in a very sensitive manner Looking at the cover, it does kind of give the impression that this is perhaps something of a heavier read, but there is no specific mention of the topics that get brought up, leaving me surprised when I started reading A lot of these stem from Hope s character Hope has had some truly traumatic experiences, and because of that is a character completely and utterly broken Both within the book and as a YA protagonist, she stands out from the crowd Strangely enough, I felt almost no frustration with her character I could see how much pain she was in, how she genuinely felt that she wasn t worthy of love and that she would destroy any kind of relationship she had, not realising that her friendships were relationships in themselves Commitment is an absolute no no for her, and that makes her almost oblivious to how differently other people might feel She s also one hell of a fighter She does struggle with herself quite a lot, and by the end of the book she s come a long way from where she was at the start Not completely healed, but I think almost as much as possible for someone who s been through her experiences. Now, if anyone were to ask me to name all my book boyfriends, it s safe to say we d be here forwell, for a long while, let s just say So what does it tell you when I say that Mason would be among the first names you hear And he would be Because he is honestly that amazing This guy does nothing but help Hope and be there for her He is justsweet than I can describe He makes mistakes, and then does his utmost to rectify them The relationship he shares with his younger brother is also touching these two don t fight and yell at each other Mason is the responsible older brother who takes the time to do things with him, and you can see clearly that Kellin respects him He gets along with his mother too although this was a woman who had lost my respect by the end She pulled a move that I was so scared would happen, and when I was proved right, I couldn t believe she would do such a thing Yet somehow Mason has turned out to be a genuinely good guy, someone who stands up for what is right, makes his own choices, and refuses to go along with what others want him to do.The secondary characters are brilliantly fleshed out as well I can t even begin to tell you how much I adored the friendships in this book between Mason, Hope, Guy, Chase, even Kellin and Misty Guy is Hope s absolute best friend, and she s pretty tight with Chase as well all three of them are part of a band, and Park is the fourth Out of the secondary characters, Guy was by far my favourite I loved him Completely He s been there for Hope ever since her mother died, and he understands her like no one else does At the same time, he says his mind But even though he s my favourite, I love Chase too I m a little mixed with Park On the one hand, I can see where he s coming from, but at the same time he does something that s pretty unforgiveable.I adored this book Pure and simple It s so clear that Cheryl McIntyre knows every single one of her characters back to front, inside and out And every single relationship in here, whether it s familial, platonic, romantic, loving, indifferent, painful every single one of them is deep, layered, expertly written Sometimes Never is all about the characters and their struggles to move on in their lives and, without fully realising it, this is what I needed to read And if this review has made even one of you add it to your TBR, I feel like I ve accomplished something Because this is a book that deserves to be read This review is also posted on my blog.

Whew This is the first book that I have read by this author I am pleasantly surprised that I stumbled upon this book It was well written without a dull moment I was hooked from the first paragraph It kept me turning each page until the very end Cheryl McIntyre did a great job in approaching a taboo subject And although at moments I was cringing she did a very realistic view and did it with taste.Mason is constantly on the move with his mother and little brother After a tragic accident to Whew This is the first book that I have read by this author I am pleasantly surprised that I stumbled upon this book It was well written without a dull moment I was hooked from the first paragraph It kept me turning each page until the very end Cheryl McIntyre did a great job in approaching a taboo subject And although at moments I was cringing she did a very realistic view and did it with taste.Mason is constantly on the move with his mother and little brother After a tragic accident took his father away from them his mother has problems with staying in one place for too long Because of this Mason goes through his days not connecting with anyone and only reaches out through sex and anger He s always fighting for the underdog and is so sweet it just makes you melt.Finding herself in a foster home after her mother was killed in a car accident, Hope, is just like a MM Hard outer shell but soft on the inside After suffering through a neglectful childhood with her mother she looks down at herself and feels that she will never be good enough She only allows a select few close but keeps everyone else at arms length Always in fear that someone will see her how she sees herself and leave her behind She hides behind her vices. Playing drums, writing lyrics, uses anger to hide her hurt, and. Worst vice of all. Hidden from everyone but 1 person Self harming. On Masons first day of school he glimpses Hope Immediately he feels as though he is drawn to her As he walking towards her he s startled to see this firecracker in a confrontation with a much larger guy and then proceeds to kick his ass Never feeling this connection before he is determined to meet her Unfortunately for him because of the fight she is suspended from school Later that day Mason sees another student being harassed by a couple guys Mason sticks up for this student, Guy, and they fast become friends As luck would have it he goes home with Guy only to find out that, Guys family fosters Hope and is also her BFF.They both feel an immediate attraction toward each other Hope is leery but Mason is relentless with his charm and sweetness and Hope finds herself falling for him Given that they both have their issues and Hopes the biggest of them all it was a journey they both needed to begin And what a journey it is There was also great co characters and made the story evencomplete.I d like to say their story was all sweetness but it just couldn t be that way Was there sweet, melt your heart, I gotta get me a Mason moments Oh Yeah Hopes character is going to not gonna lie piss you off I realized that she had to be that way, thats what made up Hope Warts and all She s hung onto all the bad in her life and she struggles everyday You re also going to like her, sympathize, root for her and pray that she sees the light You re just gonna want to pick up Mason and put him in your pocket But also scream at him why Why There are some hard truths in this book that may not sit well with others Why doesn t anyone say anything Why once the vice is out no one shouts from the rooftops for help It s frustrating BUT it s also reality. I don t want to do any spoilers so I won t get into it anybut wow..I do hope there is a follow up book with some of the other characters. Park, Guy, Chase, Kellen and even Annie I would love to knowof their stories Hint Hint Overall great book that I ate up every sentence I ll definitely be looking forfrom this author

This is story reminded me a lot of Colleen Hoover s Hopeless So if you re a fan of that story, you might want to hold off on reading this Strange request, I know, but hear me out I really liked this story, and maybe if I had read this first, I might ve actually loved this However, I m still in a Hopeless funk and that story Wowed the frick out of me This is a wonderful story in its own right I just think I should ve picked it up after some time off from my Hopelesshigh Am I making any sense Anything could happen at any second So why bother Why bother meeting people Making friends Caring about someone Falling in love It s just going to end Taken away, ripped from my hands Tore from my heart Hope Hope is one messed up chick seriously fucked up She s not your typical teenage girl She s got multicolored hair and her attitude is sometimes scary She can seriously kick any guy s ass What isn t well known about Hope is that she s hiding a pretty dark secret She s got this whole laundry list of issues that I cannot even begin to divulge Something happens to her in her past and believes that she is not worthy of love She doesn t do relationships Even her boyfriend isn t even a boyfriend No labels, that s too personal However, when she meets Mason, how much longer could she hide behind her tough persona Mason Patel is my counterpart He is the eraser to my chalk The milk to my cereal The chocolate to my peanut butter We were made for each other It s like I can breathe better Stand taller Smile easier It s ridiculous I have this sinking feeling I m going to regret this That this boy is going to end up inflicting the worst pain I ve ever felt. I absolutely LOVE Mason Patel Just an FYI, he made it onto my elite ultimate book boyfriend list That s saying something Anyway, Mason is immediately drawn to Hope He wants to get to know this girl who just kicked a jock s ass She is nothing like the girls he used to date, if you could even call his previous relationships dating Hope is a tough cookie to crack, but he s a patient man and sooner or later, Hope is going to crack But when he finds out Hope s secrets, how will he react I m done counting the days Now because of you I m making the days count. This really was a very good story, one I really liked, a lot The author dealt with some seriously dark issues and handled it very well The relationship between Mason and Hope is a beautiful one It s amazing when you find the one person who truly mattered and can change your life like that Just beautiful However, there were times where I wanted to smack some sense into Hope How she treated Mason at times made me so angry at her Plus the ending left me a little disappointed No worries, it ends happily, but it felt just a little rushed Anyway, I have no problems recommending this read, just go into it without certain expectations and with a little patience with Hope s character

But Sometimes never is a distorted perception I m so in love with this one So here you go, my love declaration for Sometimes Never Yes, it was a little rough around the edges with some minor spelling and grammar mistakes and the occasional awkward sentence structure but it reminded me so much about being in love for the first and my first boyfriend that I didn t even care about falling in love way too fast.I loved Hope Love, apart from her name being the shit, she is truly awesome I like h But Sometimes never is a distorted perception I m so in love with this one So here you go, my love declaration for Sometimes Never Yes, it was a little rough around the edges with some minor spelling and grammar mistakes and the occasional awkward sentence structure but it reminded me so much about being in love for the first and my first boyfriend that I didn t even care about falling in love way too fast.I loved Hope Love, apart from her name being the shit, she is truly awesome I like her random personality with these little quirks and ticks She certainly could act like a bitch as well but all in all she was amazing I adored her character even when I wanted to slap her, although her pastthan explains her erratic behavior at times And don t get me started on her candy addiction and mushroom allergy damn fungus D Mason sigh he s is made of awesome So awesome in fact that he jumped right on the shelf to my other book boyfriends I don t even know where to start he just seems to be so damn perfect Thoughtful, playful, polite and loving that s Mason He has his own problems to deal with but he s always there for Hope, no matter how hard it gets. These two alone are already fabulous but together I lack the vocabulary to describe them but how about cute, adorable, lovely, darling, charming, lovable, perfect Mason Patel is my counterpart He is the eraser to my chalk The milk to my cereal The chocolate to my peanut butter We were made for each other in cookie heaven Yes, they are definitely made for each other in cookie heaven The dialogues ranged from funny and entertaining to serious and heartbreaking There was a bit of everything and there was a huge smile on my face throughout many parts of this book.I don t think I can even name you one thing that I didn t like about this book I loved how Hope s living situation was portrayed, it would probably be anything but easy, yet there was love a lot of it And not only the interactions between Hope and Mason were good, but there were also many entertaining scenes between Hope and Guy another awesome name There are also some serious topics and one of them is very current, the author managed to portray this problem and the struggles it brings with it in a tasteful way I ve never read any other book that included this topic but I liked the way she handled it nonetheless.I had so many favorite scenes that I highlighted a lot in this book, I probably also forgot to mention many things in my review So maybe you should pick this up yourself and see if you love it as much as I do.P.S You know, I usually don t do the picture thing but this time I just couldn t resist and that alone should tell you how much I loved this I couldn t find a source for the picture but kudos to whomever its from

I don t want to say that every New Adult book I read is the same, but almost every New Adult book I read is the same It s becoming really, really tiresome This is a great genre one that could have my full attention if they all didn t seem to be a carbon copy of the last Including the horrible editing issues In Sometimes Never, we meet high schoolers, Mason and Hope Mason s father has been dead for six years, and Hope s mom died in a car accident a few years ago He s new in town something I don t want to say that every New Adult book I read is the same, but almost every New Adult book I read is the same It s becoming really, really tiresome This is a great genre one that could have my full attention if they all didn t seem to be a carbon copy of the last Including the horrible editing issues In Sometimes Never, we meet high schoolers, Mason and Hope Mason s father has been dead for six years, and Hope s mom died in a car accident a few years ago He s new in town something we don t really know until we figure it out for ourselves after a bit Oh, and Mason s angry another fact about him which we don t discover until about halfway through the book And Hope, she s a piece of a work She s a commitment phobic cutter who s been sexually molested in her past and doesn t trust anyone But of course, when Mason and Hope meet all of their problems disappear in the wake of the little hearts floating above their heads because they re immediately in lurve Like, after a week Not saying it can t happen, but make me feel it Drama happens, drama happens, their relationship is threatenedsomeone almost dies, and then Mason turns into a big fat liar, but it s all good because they re in lurve, remember Sound familiar Probably because like I said before, this is just another variation of nearly every other new adult book out there right now Nothing felt genuine It felt cliched, overdone and eye roll worthy Near the end, it got to a point where I was skimming because I honestly just wanted to be finished with it There was nothing spectacular about anything in this book, or these characters that sets it apart from any other NA book out there, which is why it only earned one star from me
