Romance I don t know how to begin These two characters infuriated me to no end Back and forth then up and down and round and round they go Both are emotional and with one being mentally unstablelord help me because I cannot believe I survived the ride.In Progress we meet 23 year old Charlie, she is working at a diner and that is where she meets 26 year old Jesse her new co worker Both Charlie and Jesse are dealing with some pretty heavy issues as individuals Low self esteem CharlieandBi polar disorder JesseThis of course plays a HUGE role into how these two deal with one another. When the book starts Charlie takes one look at Jesse and knows that he would never want her Because of her tall stature and curvy body she feels inadequate Kind of like my girl Ariel she feels the need to change herself in order to be what he would want and desire Only Charlie doesn t go to the sea witch to exchange fins for legs NOPE, instead she turns to good old fashion diet and exercise to lose her excess weight She s been watching him and she noticed what he likes Petite skinny girls Of course she has no clue that he is attracted to her curves and all Jesse is a complete man whore If a chick is 18 or older with a vagina he wants inside of it He is also a complete dick and often times when he opened his mouth all I wanted to do was give him a nice swift kick to his fictional nutsThe first conversation between these two is soooo AWKWARD Face meet palm Jesse is socially awkward and it throws her through a loop at first The guy has a habit of saying whatever pops in his head I mean seriously the guy has no filter whatsoever He naturally feels a pull towards Charlie and a friendship builds between them It does not take long for Charlie to realize that something is off with Jesse Slowly they begin to open up to one another Well,so she does because he still continues to hold things inShe couldn t help but smile at his charm and warmth, at his inability to communicate, and that contradiction Hot and cold was an understatementCharlieIt doesn t matter if he holds in his feelings though because even in all his closed off glory Charlie is still trying to pull in Jesse and appeal to him asthan just a friendTwenty pounds gone, and I am about to eat my own arm I m so hungryCharlieMeanwhile do you want to know what he is doing He is busy being KING of the assholes towards her I swear I have no clue how she put up with some of his antics If it was me I would have been told himAnd yeah there are moments when she tells him how she feels about his harsh words or actions that mainly take aim at her ego But nevertheless she continues to be his friend through it all Even when he is NOT so friendly towards herHe s jaded, tainted and seems to have a problem opening up Even just as friends, I don t know if he s capable of having a relationshipCharlieUmmmmm you think Really these two characters drove me to madness. As Jesse struggles with his mood swings going in out of depression, Charlie learns to basically deal with it She is there when he needs a friend and bails him out of bad situations onthan one occasion And still he won t open up He thanks her and goes back to what he does best Being the KING of the assholes.I think even when at her lowest when she wanted to stop caring she just couldn t.Readers learn that bi polar is just one of the issues that Jesse is facing His past is filled up to the brim and over flows with pain The kind of pain that makes your chest feel as though it might cave in However all the specifics of his past are not provided in detail. As Jesse battles his demons the realization starts to sink in that he is falling for Charlie Yes, he was attracted to her Yes, he thinks of her as a friend but he never really acknowledges his feelings towards her Its almost as if he can t place them For real for real I think he is just in denial Pure denial My Thoughts I could not stand Jesse I know he has some issues..but honestly he was just a jerk I was so angry with Charlie going out of her way to get him to want her Women do it all the time, yes, I know but GAH it was frustrating to read Also a woman should never change herself for a man EVER You want to lose some pounds do it for you and NOBODY ELSE.The actions displayed by the characters at times seemed very immature Especially Jesse, his actions was borderline adolescent He did not act like a 26 year old male I don t know maybe it s just me.The writing was not my usual style that I gravitate towards though I have read and enjoyed books with this similar writing style It was pretty fast paced with quick scene changes and the time frame moved rapidly along as well days to weeks to months snaps fingers quick Definitely no dragging or unnecessary descriptions that are a page long with details Also we get both his and her pov which is always a plus.Overall I liked it and after the way this book ended I will be jumping in to book 2 Interrupted Special Note The story has an abrupt ending and pretty much leaves you hanging but no worries book 2 is about to release on 7 15 13 wipes sweat from forehead My RatingsCharacters The characters pushed my limits and tested my patience A LOT.Writing Style Fair, not my usual style per se.Plot Storyline Two troubled people connecting and falling in loveSteam Factor Medium Moderately SteamyOverall I am eager to see how this story continues and will be starting book2 after I post this. Now go forth and read Then come tell us about it on Goodreads Forreviews got to Copy kindly provided by the author in exchange for an Been there..done thatread that story I can say that you haven t The author did something very tricky with this story and, in my humble opinion, she did a fantastic job Writing about manic depression isn t easy And it sure as Hell isn t easy to write a story where both main characters have a shit load to sort out for themselves What I also loved was that the author displayed broken souls in different lights Charlie had her problems, but she had therapy to help her Jesse also had his own package to carry, but he only took the help of medication.and that only sometimes Dealing with depression isn t a picnic And if you don t seek out for help, you might destroy othersthan you destory yourself That s what happened in this story Charlie fell head over heals for Jesse and Jesse did everything a guy shouldn t do to a woman who was already broken He was this reckless guy who was an emotional wreck One day he would say the sweetest things to Charlie and the next day he would insult her to a point where her past catches up with hermaking her the puddle of mess she was once again But they re still friends She figures out pretty quick that something is not right with Jesse and she tries to help and sometimes stay away I really felt awful reading about how he managed to crush her and then he d apologize You could say the guy had a split personality But the only issue with that was that he had a hard time figurng out what was going on in his head He wanted to make things right for Charlie..to be good and all.but things kind of slipped at times A constant emotional back and forth that didn t help the poor woman any bit And still, she stayed friends with him..still wishing for something to be real Hoping for a chance to get to knowabout Jesse and his feelings.Just when things got better, I was wishing for Jesse and Charlie to find a way to be together So, you could say that I was crushed as well when something good turned out to be something sad.I couldn t have stayed friends with Jesse even if someone paid me too not kidding, people I would have had panic attacks too if he would have pulled off that two face thingy on me heavy sigh I still must admitt that I cared for him dearly I understood him even if I don t suffer from depression. and I can say that I would have beaten his ass to a therapist I loved the scenes where he gave her the sunflower you really need to read this book, that scene was soooooo sweet and I loved the scene when he gave her a CDThose were the short moments where I truly believed he had so muchto offer, but needed help to follow through Charlie..wellallthough she was this fragile person..she seemed so strong That s what I loved about her Charlie never let Jesse down Even when he verbally abused her.she was always there for him So much has happened in her young life and still.she was able to smile That signals a strong personality for me The author did her homework well on the depression subject Never have I read a book where mental illness was so well told And never have I read a story about 2 people who were practically broken and yet tried to stick together in the most best way ever Devastating, but still fantastic This book deserves a special rating.but since we don t do that. I hope everyone will settle for a normal one.lolThe Divas are gvng Progress by Amy Queau a 5 our of 5 Champagne glasses

I changed my rating from four stars to five because a few days after reading this, the characters and story are still sticking with me,than usual I anxiously await the arrival of the second book My Favorite Lines She really didn t have much to lose, unless he wanted to take her virginity Which, at this point, she would have given to a passerby I m tired, Jess Tired of how much effort it takes to be friends with you Tired of how much it takes to want you I m sick of the torture of I changed my rating from four stars to five because a few days after reading this, the characters and story are still sticking with me,than usual I anxiously await the arrival of the second book My Favorite Lines She really didn t have much to lose, unless he wanted to take her virginity Which, at this point, she would have given to a passerby I m tired, Jess Tired of how much effort it takes to be friends with you Tired of how much it takes to want you I m sick of the torture of your highs and lows You make me feel so inadequate one second, and then you treat me like I m the only woman in the world the next You are so wonderful and so horrible at the same time You ve taught me so many things, Jess You ve showed me what relationships should and shouldn t be You ve taught me that no matter how ugliness is shunned and ridiculed, that I should never again feel inferior to anyone You ve shown me just what I want in someone, and a few things I don t Love isn t supposed to be where you go just because you have no place left to run What I Thought I want to start off by saying that this is the first time in a long time I ve strayed outside the lines of Young Adult Fiction, and I m glad I did.Characterization is everything to me It doesn t matter how great a storyline is, if the characters are uninteresting or have no effect on me, I lose interest This story had both, butthan anything, it had Charlie.I started off the book liking her She s about a year older than me, and although our situations are different, I saw a lot of myself and people I know in her She was very real By the end of the book, I adored her She became such a strong, amazing person, and if you read this book you ll see that most of my favorite lines come from the end, because she just got that amazing.I didn t like Jesse He reminds me of someone I used to know, and his character hit too close to home But it was a love hate relationship Of course I found myself rooting for them, but at the same time whenever Charlie told him off, I rooted for her.I loved how the majority of this book focused on their friendship Don t get me wrong I love epic love stories where the characters fall madly in love two seconds into the novel, but this was different, and in a refreshing way The story took place over a year s time, and you were able to see how both characters changed and shifted, both within their relationship to each other, and individually.I would recommend this book to anyone It was thrilling, and kept your attention throughout there were no dull spots It s going to be a series a trilogy, I believe and I look forward to reading the other books when they come out

Thousands of women are curvy and voluptuous And, believe it or not, many are victims of bullying But, that doesn t mean that there is not occasional acceptance among people in a world so diverse The heroine in this novel is overweight, and as she tries to come to terms with her insecurities, she meets a young man who is also battling his own demons the reality of the highs and lows when suffering from bi polar disorder As I was reading this book, I could tell that it would an emotional roll Thousands of women are curvy and voluptuous And, believe it or not, many are victims of bullying But, that doesn t mean that there is not occasional acceptance among people in a world so diverse The heroine in this novel is overweight, and as she tries to come to terms with her insecurities, she meets a young man who is also battling his own demons the reality of the highs and lows when suffering from bi polar disorder As I was reading this book, I could tell that it would an emotional rollercoaster of feelings when determining if one is to be trusted and forgiven for their erratic behavior It was thoroughly researched with tormenting truths regarding this irrational and depressing condition The emotional upheaval between the two main characters was agonizingly painful to read about But, it seemed so realistic and true to life With that being said, here s what I thought of author, Amy Queau s Progress series debut.Charlie loved her new job of being a hostess for The Crimson Cellar It was an easy job, and she was often complimented on her hard work and deligence But, when she gets a glimpse of gorgeous Jesse James Anders, she goes weak in the knees and blushes passionately Why Because he s just that scrumptious dark blonde hair, grey eyes, and just the right amount of muscle Wow But, Charlie knows that she would never have a chance with someone like him He s just like way out of her league So, sexy with his labret peaking out from his chinswoonBesides, with Charlie s track record of always being the victim of people s cruel jokes, she just has to face the fact that the closest she ll ever get to spending time with him is as a friend As Charlie and Jesse get to know each other, he becomesattached to the friendship they share knowing full well that Charlie would never abandon him She doesn t have it in her to be mean or selfish She would always have someone else s best interest at heart Where is this relationship headed, though Well, one moment Jesse wants her intimately, but he knows that he is damaged and that would be the end of their friendship And, then in another instant, he wants to keep their relationship on the platonic level knowing full well that they could just continue to trust and protect each other on a noncommital like basis That way is safe and low maintenance But, what does Charlie want Well, she wants Jesse intimately as well, but is she willing to risk their friendship knowing also that, romantically speaking, their sensual relationship could potentially destroy something so perfect and long lasting And, besides, she s actually not even sure if they could ever even have any relationship beyond friendship because he s untamed and shameless to the point where any further involvement with him could prove to be unhealthy How can a man with so much potential, passion, and life be so condescending and hurtful at times Both characters are damaged, however Charlie oftentimes is the victim of continuous bullying by men, which in turn repeatedly leads to low self esteem and extended inexperience with dating Whereas Jesse, constantly dealt with the repetitive ramifications of his bi polar disorder and the reality of being raised in fostercare since his parents death quite a few years ago The author paints a realistic picture of hard luck and unfortunate circumstances that lead to both character s instability and vulnerability While Charlie has extensive trust issues with men, Jesse can t handle recently seeing a former girlfriend that is pressing him for a reconciliation that he thought, at one time, was the one I don t think that either character can be worthy of a romantic, somewhat, lengthy relationship, whether it s with each other or anyone else, until they fix what s broken inside her trust issues and his mental illness psychosis.Honestly, my infatuation with romance novels is not just about the sexual chemistry or tension between the characters, although it is an added plus to the story, but it s also about the storyline The details The sweetness The damaged individual or individuals The survival And, ultimately, the triumph whether it s a happily ever after or not Ms Queau does a great job with all the characteristics of what makes an impressive novel This, however, is not the end of their story It progresses along on into the next two installments to the series So the triumph is still to come As I m writing this review, I m also re reading the novel, and it s still as engaging and heartbreaking as my first time reading it in fact, maybeso The novel was fast paced and unique The characters were flawed, but showed possible hope for redemption Progresspg 248 pg 255 I don t expect anything, you know I never did It s amazing to me that we ve come this far, and I ve completely changed my entire body, my outlook, my attitudejust so that you would want to be close to me Charlie I don t deserve your decency I don t deserve this He points his finger back and forth between them Or you Or this night But I want it II ve wanted you since the first day we met He takes a sharp inhale and waits Jesse You ve taught me that no matter how ugliness is shunned and ridiculed, that I should never again feel inferior to anyone CharlieBut, what happens ultimately in the end, as the final pages are turned, is excruciatingly painful Sad Heartbreaking And, a perfect way for Ms Queau to end the first book in this intensely provocative trilogy Loved it
