I was pretty much okay with this story, UNTIL the truly selfish and evil ex wife pulled some very serious emotional and financial fuckery at MC 1 s expense, for several YEARS, which were ALL just swept under the rug and forgiven Like, immediately THE FUCK No real outrage or resentment voiced on page from her ex husband She used his love for his young daughter as a loaded gun to his head and checkbook and he s got nothing Really I almost DNF d it immediately at that point T I was pretty much okay with this story, UNTIL the truly selfish and evil ex wife pulled some very serious emotional and financial fuckery at MC 1 s expense, for several YEARS, which were ALL just swept under the rug and forgiven Like, immediately THE FUCK No real outrage or resentment voiced on page from her ex husband She used his love for his young daughter as a loaded gun to his head and checkbook and he s got nothing Really I almost DNF d it immediately at that point That plot point was completely unbelievable to me The book was fine up until that point, but it didn t blow me away and it definitely hadwedding plot than I care for I didn t like it nearly as much as book 1 in the series

Wasn t really feeling this one Didn t really like Blaine or Spencer, to be quite honest Blaine especially acted like a drama queen IDK they both just acted so immature the majority of the book Pretending to hate each other only to instantly fall in love It was almost an exact replica of The Betting Man, complete with Mr Hawke swooping in to save the day I will say I like Casper s character. I think Slater.not so much at this point He seems like he might be really annoying I did li Wasn t really feeling this one Didn t really like Blaine or Spencer, to be quite honest Blaine especially acted like a drama queen IDK they both just acted so immature the majority of the book Pretending to hate each other only to instantly fall in love It was almost an exact replica of The Betting Man, complete with Mr Hawke swooping in to save the day I will say I like Casper s character. 3 Stars This was a nice, fluffy, quick read It was entertaining enough to keep me company on my flight to Vegas, but nothing really stands out It took a while for Spencer and Blaine to grow on me, but once they did, I thought they were cute together Spencer s daughter was a great addition, however, I could have done without his ex wife who was done up as MEGA VILLAIN EXTRAORDINAIRE I m really intrigued by Spencer s snarky hornball brother, Slater.and especially his hilarious banter 3 Stars This was a nice, fluffy, quick read It was entertaining enough to keep me company on my flight to Vegas, but nothing really stands out It took a while for Spencer and Blaine to grow on me, but once they did, I thought they were cute together Spencer s daughter was a great addition, however, I could have done without his ex wife who was done up as MEGA VILLAIN EXTRAORDINAIRE I m really intrigued by Spencer s snarky hornball brother, Slater.and especially his hilarious banter with Blaine s secretary, Casper With Slater s nonstop flirty horniness and Casper s quick witted annoyance of him, their book has the potential for some serious fun

A Marrying Man was the second book in the Men of Manhattan series by Sandrine Gasq Dion Blaine McKlintock was gorgeous, arrogant, rich, and pompous..or was he He had met Spencer Cassidy several years ago in passing, but he never forgot him They met again through Kent and Terry book one, A Betting Man Spencer was strong, gorgeous and confident He was divorced from the ex wife from hell He s always known he was bi sexual, but had never fully explored it He totally wanted to explore it A Marrying Man was the second book in the Men of Manhattan series by Sandrine Gasq Dion Blaine McKlintock was gorgeous, arrogant, rich, and pompous..or was he He had met Spencer Cassidy several years ago in passing, but he never forgot him They met again through Kent and Terry book one, A Betting Man Spencer was strong, gorgeous and confident He was divorced from the ex wife from hell He s always known he was bi sexual, but had never fully explored it He totally wanted to explore it with Blaine. The storyline focused completely on the budding relationship as well as Kent and Terry s wedding planning It was a quick, light and enjoyable read mixed in with an abundance of humor As with any novella, I desireddepth within the storyline however, I still enjoyed it.I would be remiss if I didn t mention Valerie Cassidy Although not one of the main characters, she was prominent in the storyline She was Spencer s adorable and funny eight year old who stole the show every time she was around. All in all, I was thoroughly entertained Additionally, Gasq Dion prepped us well for the next story, A Fighting Man, focusing on the hysterical Slater and snarky Casper It promises to be a true delight

I read book one so now I feel obligated to read book two In book 1 Blaine was vain douchenozzle I except to see some groveling and redemption here and not just be told he s changed a lot since book one You Are Being Warned This Review Contains SPOILERS and a lot of them and also this is just my personal comments and thoughts as I read this Chapter 1 is an info dump about Blaine and his family It also shows how insensitive he is, especially towards his mother First he double boo I read book one so now I feel obligated to read book two In book 1 Blaine was vain douchenozzle I except to see some groveling and redemption here and not just be told he s changed a lot since book one You Are Being Warned This Review Contains SPOILERS and a lot of them and also this is just my personal comments and thoughts as I read this Chapter 1 is an info dump about Blaine and his family It also shows how insensitive he is, especially towards his mother First he double booked a meeting for when he was supposed to be having brunch with his mom To the point where he didn t listen to a word she said, instead he spent the whole time thinking about how he was late for hisimportant meeting His mom finally gave up and just told him to go since he wasn t listening to her at all What was she trying to say Who knows Blaine doesn t care at all She could have been saying her liver was failing and he wouldn t have been bothered to care, after all he was running late for his other meeting with his friend from book one Instead of canceling and rescheduling one of his appointments he just treats his mom like trash and runs late to meet his friend Yeah, not impressed with this character at all And from the info dump it appears it s setting up his parents to be the reason for all of his problems and why he acts like a pompous jerk Even though both parents took him to work with them and did parenting stuff with him I m betting it won t be enough for Blaine Chapter 2 is Spencer s first person POV Yes this book has rotating first person point of view Don t remember if book one was like that or not Either way I don t like this style and often kept forgetting who s POV I was in, and having to re read sections More on the confusing parts later.Sigh I actually sighed, and not a good I m swooning sigh, a bad are you fucking kidding me sigh Of course here comes the evil beyond a bitch ex wife, have to have one of those The whole evil bitch trope thrown in here is stupid and over the top Made me stop liking spencer already He comes across like an idiot Apparently She has fancy lawyers Hello idiot, hire your own lawyers You caught her cheating She refuses his visitation rights unless he pays her extra Again illegal and blackmail hire a lawyer idiot The kids eight and he says wants to see him, well hire a lawyer and have her tell the judge that Instead he pays her ridiculously high alimony and child support and paints her as an absolutely awful mother So why leave the kid with her Also there is a huge inconsistency here, where one page he says wife left him for a younger man after he left Wall Street because she so pretentious Next page he s catching her cheating with his assistant and HE leaves her and fires his assistant There is a page between this, how can it change so drastically, so quickly, and an editor not notice The women so farBlaine s mom the super alcoholic yet super attorney omg spencer totally needs a lawyer maybe later she ll sober up and help him since he s too stupid to hire an attorney Spencer s ex wife super bitch, super greedy, uses child as a weapon for money, has a plastic face, cheating slut, manipulative it s all her fault they had sex without a condom, she made him do it blah blah whine whine Grow a pair Spencer, seriously Spencer thinks when harassing Blain, I m such a dick I chuckled Nice, real nice spencer Not douchey at all to be a dick and then laugh at your own dickishness Nope not a total douche move. And I m only 8% and it started at 2% This makes absolutely no fucking sense Kent wants Blaine and Spencer to plan his wedding Kent can t do it or Terry might find out Why don t you ask Terry to marry you first and maybe he d want to plan his own wedding Or maybe hire a wedding planner No matter what why would you ask two guys who don t like each other to work together on something so big that they don t even have experience doing Like really, Kent just assumes they ll plan his whole wedding in a month because they re friends He doesn t think that s a big request Or that someone else who has wedding experience would be better Seriously Only thing I can think of is Terry must know about it and they just setting these two up Even then it s just ridiculous. How does Blaine possibly know so much about his dads sex life He thinks numerous times about how often his dad has sex and with who Then during the random scene where his dad comes to his office and breaks down and tells him he s going to rehab for his sex addiction, Blaine tells him not to because sex with any you vagina makes him feel younger and makes his dick happy A paragraph before he was criticizing the dad for being a whore and what it does to his drunk mother Then when the dad breaks down and says he going to try and change Blain like, oh no it s not that big if a deal if it makes you happy WTF Seriously there is no consistency to this character at all One minute he s all snobby in restaurant next he all going out of his way to show how nice he is too his assistant Think s of his assistant as a human now and only had him do stuff he was hired to do Because hanging out with Terry had changed him It goes over the top in pointing out how much his assistant loves him, but how professional he keeps their relationship Yes, all of his changing apparently happened between books and now he hardly seems like the same character at all I m not sure, but I think we re supposed to feel sorry for him But I still don t like him He s still a douche but now he s all insecure and timid and whiny Terry hangs out with Blaine s dad What When Blaine says all his dad does is work and fuck Blaine rarely sees him So when does he hang out with terry Is he fucking Terry This is brought up because Blaine s dad says asshat apparently Terry is teaching him new terminology But if Blaine never sees his dad Why would terry be seeing Blaine s dad Even if kent and terry and Blaine hang out, why his dad be there And hanging out enough for him to start talking like terry Just doesn t fit with what we were told early But I m starting to think there is no worry about being consistent here and instead we re just told whatever fits for the current scene, or this part of the current scene Since not even all the scenes remain consistent throughout He got lost driving He had an address His smart phone doesn t have GPS His pretentious expensive car no GPS either There are so many little things that I m just like WTF Or thinking that s random Or was there a point there Or was this tacked on for extra word count Oh how convenient Spencer s mom is the best wedding planner of all time She s been in people magazine a million times and all celebrities want her to do their wedding What an everyday real life situation Two random guys asked to plan a wedding in a month and one has the most famous wedding planner ever born as a mother Thank god or what would they do And thank God people owe Spencer s mom favors so the perfect lighthouse location will cancel someone else s event so she can have it on such short notice Sorry but I don t like characters that think they re so special other people can just be shit on so they can have something there way And that s how all of these characters are, no compassion or thought for anyone else Blaine tells Spencer s parents he s changed quite a bit since the bet Too bad the reader doesn t get to see any of that It s like all the character development happened between books and now we are told how it is but it doesn t feel genuine His little speech seemed almost robotic and then after the other characters are so happy he s changed so much And they know all that from him simply saying so I haven t seen the change that s for sure at 18% Oh now he has GPS so he won t get lost going home.Oh little flashbacks to some of the many things skipped over But still not really showing anything Just Blaine whining about how everyone else has better parents than him and blah blah The names Kent is really Kenny Blaine gets called ken sometimes because he looks like a ken doll Blaine s assistant is Kennedy Seriously There are lots of V names too, I can t keep track of the names they re all too similar I don t see any chemistry between them at all They push and shove and kick each other in the shin That s like little boy stuff Not adults that are almost thirty or are in their thirties It s annoying and makes me wish they d grow up, If I wanted that I d read young adult Why does he need a buffer to pick up his brother They seem to get along just fine And the spencer spends whole time trying to keep blain away from his slutty brother And then after dragging Blain there he just sends blain on his own in a cab to find his own way home Rude, and great way to say thanks, dickface Seems like this was just another flimsy excuse to put them together Which would be fine if there were chemistry or something between them But all they do is bicker and act like little girl boys They have not had one real conversation or gotten to know each other at all so far 24%What are ACUs The book says the term a lot but doesn t explain it.Back to Blaine s POV forof his pity party No one ever wanted to date him for him They just used him for his money and status blah blah Is he really surprised He s a disgusting person He knows it, so why would anyone want to date him that wasn t also disgustingly like him I d like to see a character that realizes the problem is him and not everyone else and then see him work to fix it and not just whine about how hard his privileged life is all the time Sometimes there are what I can t tell if it s a typo or weird phrasing Like A devilish grinned lifted his beautiful lips and I licked my own I m pretty sure it should just be devilish grin But either way, I find myself having to re read stuff because its worded weird or just confusing Especially at scene changes or sometimes dialogue I have to read it three or four times to know who is speaking I feel like an editor should have smoothed this stuff out Omg he thinks of Vanessa as my daughter all the fucking time It s so annoying can t he just use her name This is less noticeable later on but for one chapter it was highly annoying. The timeline s fucked up or it s another one of those things that s just not detailed well At the start they had a month to plan for the wedding which is on Xmas eve And it s only been a few days unless it skipped a lot and didn t mention it, I wouldn t be surprised but now everyone is talking like its already Christmas Like the eight year old ram away Took a taxi by herself to her dad because she wanted to spend Xmas with him Isn t Xmas almost a month away I m so confused Magically contrived, Blaine found her on the street having never even met her before Which also led to Terry finding them on his day off Spencer was supposed to open the store but terry showed up with key They then all leave Terry there to open the store Uh what Really Another plot hole or are they just that big of asses I forgot terry randomly planned the secretary s wedding at the end of book one and apparently loved it Do they seriously think he wouldn t then want to plan his own wedding Really Seriously 37% yep all of the above is from just 37% into the story I can t help but feeling like this was rushed and could benefit from a fewrounds of editing Eh Jesus Back when his dad was going to rehab he asked if his dad even loved his mom any because of how he acted Now he s happy his dad is in rehab because he knows dad loves his mom and he remembers how the dad dotes on her WTF When before he never saw the mom because he was always working and or fucking any young vagina Now it s the complete opposite I swear it s like there is no consistency at all in this story 41% Women additions Spencer s mom a little too Disney princess too be real she sing song and is too good to be true type vibe but she is warm and likable even if it s over the top Least this is positive over the top lots of characters end up sing song and it is a really annoying phrase Porsche the super fake, super stupid, doesn t understand the word no, is an ex to both kent and blain, both dated her before they went all dick Great addition to the cast Porsche Wonder how it feels to have both your ex s go for dick after breaking up Spencer s daughter who is eight but super smart and the perfect child Barely knows her daddy but wants to stay with him because her mom s an evil cuntface.46% the kid ran away again Her daddy wasn t home so she googled blain and found him because a picture showed him in front of the building See she s a genius, especially since she didn t know Blaine s last name and even if she did how could she spell it because its a weird one She s ran away twice Would it really be that hard to get custody Especially after all the other shit too Not too mention the fact that the first time they didn t know she was gone until spencer called them And this time she s already been gone a while if she s been to different houses and waiting at Blaine s, but they don t call spencer until she s already with Blaine How did they not notice sooner And the characters always have the most perfect timing and random run ins It just adds to everything feeling forced Huh, Spencer s brother and daughter are both psychologists telling Blaine he s lonely and blah blah She s eight going on 65 apparently Blaine says his fathers office screams I have a huge cock then describes it To me it screamed I m trying to compensate for my little cock and show how pretentiously manly I am Big difference there 50%Every meal they eat pizza I m so sick of reading about them going to get pizza and moaning while they eat it Not sure how they possibly have these perfect bodies when all they eat is shit58% 74% either it got better or I developed an immunity to the flaws It s still not great though is going faster I still don t feel a connection to either character And the time line is wonky 77% view spoiler yeah Terry was in on it and they made a bet What the bet was I don t understand They bet spencer had a thing for Blaine How does that lead to planning their wedding If terry loves planning weddings so much like we are led to believe at end of the first book, why wouldn t be plan his own Why would he put control of it completely over to two people that know nothing about weddings Pretty much every wtf question I posted when kent asked them to do it still applies If Terry knew they were planning a wedding already why did he act so surprised to be proposed to Was that all fake If not it couldn t have been a surprise because terry was in on the wedding This just feels so fake and contrived Hard to find romance when it all feels like one huge plot hole hide spoiler WTF 80% why would their picture be on the cover of New York Times One owns a bike messenger shop and the other is an ad executive That makes the cover of New York Times And Vanessa the superficial bimbo reads New York Times Puh lease But she see s spencer on it with his new boyfriend and is pissed and goes over the top evil about it 83% you know a book s bad when the characters break up and you shake your head and laugh because of how ridiculous it is and over the top and just plain weak Grow some fucking back bones I don t even care if they get together again I m not connected to either of them and don t see a connection between them with each other either And the sex, so dull, lay there like a bored hooker and moan occasionally Oh yeah revving that engine big time Plus it skips a lot Like they at point A of sex and skips to point C, jumpy and not hot.Omg the ending is so bad lol I don t even have words for it The evil bitch is called out on her evil bitchness, finally and she has no other options so she apologizes and everything s forgiven She was just acting like a cold hearted bitch Now she s their newest BFF It s such bullshit. And Porsche only acts dumb, she s really got a degree in chemistry or something and not a dumb vapid no at all And his drunk mom only drank because she didn t get sex Now she has sex and isn t drinking and his parents are happy and loving again Basically, we are TOLD every character isn t who they pretend to be and are all wonderful amazing people Yeah, I m not buying that at all Every thing about this story was FAKE there isn t anything genuine about I was going to give two stars because its an easy short read but after this, 1 star seems like too much.Everyone coming out asthan the pretend to be makes it all feel even faker Fake, false, bogus, phony, sham, all words that would describe this story to me Weak superficial characters that lack any depth or consistency and a storyline that s hard to follow and makes a absolutely no sense.I wouldn t recommend this to anyone, even if you liked the first book there is just so many better stories out there.Eh the bitch ex wife freaked out because spencer was plastered on cover with his new boyfriend of the New York Times Then at the end Blaine asks him, isn t he worried about going public with their relationship and his status WTF being on the cover as a couple of new york times is not public enough My final thoughts What a mess, I wish I d just marked it dnf after the first 8%.

3.25I liked this one, but not as much as the first book There were a couple things that really bothered me that kept me from rating it higher Firstly, why would a bisexual man have such a hard time wrapping his head around the fact that another bisexual man was married once and had a child Even gay men and women occasionally marry someone of the opposite gender Whether they are in denial or caught up in a circumstance, being married to someone of the opposite sex does not mean you are straig 3.25I liked this one, but not as much as the first book There were a couple things that really bothered me that kept me from rating it higher Firstly, why would a bisexual man have such a hard time wrapping his head around the fact that another bisexual man was married once and had a child Even gay men and women occasionally marry someone of the opposite gender Whether they are in denial or caught up in a circumstance, being married to someone of the opposite sex does not mean you are straight Second, and this is a bit spoilery, so I will tag it view spoiler Vanessa did not deserve to keep Valerie She wasn t sorry for putting Spencer through hell and threatening to ruin his life She was sorry she got caught in a huge lie that could have cost her custody In my opinion, Spencer should have taken her to court for primary custody Mommy Dearest didn t pay much attention to their daughter anyway and treated her like a meal ticket Yeah, I do not like her At All hide spoiler Getting Spencer and Blaine to plan Kent and Terry s wedding was a nice move, though Nothing like a little manipulation to get two people that are already hot for each other to take the next step

Review written for Hearts On Fire Reviews This book is the follow up to A Betting Man This story features Kent s best friend, Blaine other half of the bet maker from that book , and Spencer, Terry s boss and victim of the bet from that book Blaine and Spencer are asked by Kent to plan his and Terry s wedding though he has yet to even ask Terry Oh, and they have about a month to plan said wedding. Now, for me to explain my issues here, I first have to explain how things were In A Betting Review written for Hearts On Fire Reviews This book is the follow up to A Betting Man This story features Kent s best friend, Blaine other half of the bet maker from that book , and Spencer, Terry s boss and victim of the bet from that book Blaine and Spencer are asked by Kent to plan his and Terry s wedding though he has yet to even ask Terry Oh, and they have about a month to plan said wedding. Now, for me to explain my issues here, I first have to explain how things were In A Betting Man, Blaine was a total prick He was snobbish, cocky and stuck up and generally not a very nice guy When that story ended, I longed for him and Spencer to get together in such a way that Spencer really put Blaine in his place Spencer was a cool guy, somewhat big and tough, and all around good friend and boss to Terry This had the potential of some very smexy scenes.Fast forward a year to this book Immediately, I had the feeling that this wasn t the same Blaine that I had known, but unfortunately, it wasthan him just realizing what a dick he was and making some changes to his life and attitude That I could have lived with, but, in this, he was a rather meek, almost twinkish guy, almost the total opposite from what he was Unfortunately, this caused a bit of disappointment that really hindered my enjoyment of this story Then, with a year passing, it really felt like I had missed out on big important chunks of this story that we assume happened in the last year One other important chunk I must have missed was that I thought Spencer and Blaine had met through Terry and Kent in the previous book However, now, we find out that they had met previously, way back when Kent was a Wall Street star and Blaine ran into him while tagging along with his father one day Add to this that he apparently had a huge crush on Spencer ever since, which I also didn t recall from the previous book. While I had no problems with the writing itself, there were just too many things that didn t jive for me to really enjoy it I believe I may be in the minority on this though, so will chalk it up to it being my own issues I really enjoy and recommend this author s Assassin Shifter series, but this one just fell a little short for me Had I read this book as a stand alone, I have no doubt I would have rated it higher
