As a fan of coffee table books and a Daft Punk fan, I was excited when I won an advanced copy of this book through a First Reads contest After reading through this book in one sitting, I can tell you that this is an excellent book for any one unfamiliar or casually acquainted with Daft Punk that would like to knowThere is no shortage of information in this book Starting with their early beginnings, this book gives a decent history of this dynamic duo, both music and film credits include As a fan of coffee table books and a Daft Punk fan, I was excited when I won an advanced copy of this book through a First Reads contest After reading through this book in one sitting, I can tell you that this is an excellent book for any one unfamiliar or casually acquainted with Daft Punk that would like to knowThere is no shortage of information in this book Starting with their early beginnings, this book gives a decent history of this dynamic duo, both music and film credits included, right up to their current success found with their most recent album,Random Access MemoriesThis album is given top billing in this book, as each collaborator on this album is given their own page or two While most of the albums are given 2 5 pages at best, Random Access Memories, is given at least 12 15 pages of this entire book Therefore, I will admit that this book feels bottom heavy Now, this also illustrates the evolution ofDaft Punk, whom have never collaborated as much on any album as this one, but it still made it feel likeattention was given to their latest album than anything else.I would also like to note that the notion that made this book so bottom heavy is the same notion that creates my criticism throughout the book I would likeDaft PunkThis book employs much, what I like to call, empty filler, to fill itself up Let me give you a few examples One of their earliest musical endeavors was named Darlin after a Beach Boys song, as the Beach Boys were an early influence of Daft Punk To illustrate this point, there is a picture of the Beach Boys nearby this fact I would have much rather seen a picture of Daft Punk during these formative years, than a picture of the band that influenced them I know this seems a bit critical, but this occurs all throughout the book As another example, in the section about Random Access Memories, theres a picture of Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus onstage at the MTV awards with a caption that notes that Thicke and Cyrus shared the billboard charts with Daft Punk this year Why is that relevant to my knowledge of Daft Punk what so ever This is just empty filler employed to fill space and I would have like to have seen less of it.One last thing, in the beginning of this review, I noted that I felt this book was excellent for casual fans and those unfamiliar with this band Hardcore fans will undoubtedly know all of the material found throughout this book A quick look at the appendix will also show you that most of it can be found on the internet, as its full of citations from readily available web sources It does a good job of organizing it all, however, and presenting it in an interesting fashion I enjoyed this book, but like any fan, I just wantDaft Punk

I m a HUGE fan of Daft Punk and bought my copy off of someone for a cheap price.I think it was interesting I loved learning about the past of the musicians and their influences, however, my one gripe is I wish the book wasabout Daft Punk instead of some filler info.

2.5 5 Unauthorized books will be just that, a rehashing of what s readily out there with a lacklustre collection of photographs and random facts to fill a volume It s a pleasant look back but not terribly insightful.

Won this book as part of Goodreads First Reads Giveaway. The writing is a bit repetitive but it s a really interesting read Lots of informational facts which I love and I like how it s describing the evolution of music and not solely focused on Daft Punk Very cool I also like the format of the book Lots of pictures and not boring at all I liked this band before I read this book but now I knowabout them and appreciate their music .

I won an copy of this book through the GoodReads First Reads program A Trip Inside the Pyramid is a perfectly good coffee table type of book It does have a lot of information, but of course, it s very image heavy as well Before reading this, I was only familiar with Daft Punk through their music, and only therecent stuff they ve done but this definitely got me interested in some of their other projects outside of their music productions.
