Scott Nadelson has a talent for bringing words to life through his descriptions and narration in this story I loved this story because it s incredibly relatable, and his characters are exquisitely developed His mix of fiction and non fiction kept me turning the pages and I couldn t put it down I really enjoyed how the narrator would consistently have flashbacks to explain the present, and the way he portrays the process of grief Nadelson is able to find the mystery in the ordinary moments of Scott Nadelson has a talent for bringing words to life through his descriptions and narration in this story I loved this story because it s incredibly relatable, and his characters are exquisitely developed His mix of fiction and non fiction kept me turning the pages and I couldn t put it down I really enjoyed how the narrator would consistently have flashbacks to explain the present, and the way he portrays the process of grief Nadelson is able to find the mystery in the ordinary moments of life and make them beautiful A Warm Breath is a great read and I look forward toof Nadelson s work The following are two of my favorite quotes from Nadelson s work In the months after my friend R s death, I suffered bouts of shame deeper than any I d experienced before These were often followed by unreasonable fits of anger, which had me shaking my fist at drivers when I was walking and shouting at pedestrians when I was driving At least I considered them unreasonable at the time, which is why I didn t tell anyone about them Now I might accept all this as ordinary, a natural part of the grieving process, as inevitable as my eventual recovery While I was in the middle of it, though, I didn t know recovery was possible I believed, with near certainty, that I was slowly and quietly losing my mind I understood then, or maybe I d understood all along there s a reason Chekhov s cab driver never gets to tell the story of his dead son, that even when he does finally unburden himself to his horse, we don t hear his words There was far too much to tell Even if he went on speaking for the rest of his life, he wouldn t reach the end of his story before he himself was gone Andimportant, what he really wanted to say was simply unsayable

Scott Nadelson s memoir is a great fluidity of emotional and mental processing He writes about his time processing the death of a dear friend, while experiencing the joy of a newborn daughter Nadelson develops emotional moments and experiences that reach to the depths of any person who has lived with great loss A profound statement that Nadelson makes about writing professor, Doris Betts, as she finished creating a novel, Finally, it was Chekhov s story a grief stricken story about a cab d Scott Nadelson s memoir is a great fluidity of emotional and mental processing He writes about his time processing the death of a dear friend, while experiencing the joy of a newborn daughter Nadelson develops emotional moments and experiences that reach to the depths of any person who has lived with great loss A profound statement that Nadelson makes about writing professor, Doris Betts, as she finished creating a novel, Finally, it was Chekhov s story a grief stricken story about a cab driver that helped her, that allowed her to approach the terrifying border between sentiment and sentimentality, to risk everything by feeling everything He basically established how allowing oneself to express and feel true grief is the same as the willingness to risk it all, but as he develops his memoir the reader sees that risking everything is almost necessary A Warm Breath was truly a wonderful, eye opening read
