I really enjoyed this book It starts with some very basic background on mandalas and their use in meditation then moves into creating your own The author walks you through creating several different mandala designs while still leaving room for you to customize the designs to your own taste My favorite thing about this book is the section containing instructions to divide your mandala into sections using geometry I haven t done much Zen doodling but this book is certainly inspiring and I have I really enjoyed this book It starts with some very basic background on mandalas and their use in meditation then moves into creating your own The author walks you through creating several different mandala designs while still leaving room for you to customize the designs to your own taste My favorite thing about this book is the section containing instructions to divide your mandala into sections using geometry I haven t done much Zen doodling but this book is certainly inspiring and I have several ideas for my own creations I d like to try out My favorites for the book are the Tree of Life mandala and the one using a paper cut snowflake as the base

This is a fun little art book It has a few basic project ideas that you can copy that are great time occupiers, but this book in particular taught me that you can use small plates and coffee mugs to trace as the outline for the mandala I used the technique of tracing the plate and then 4 smaller circles inside that circle with smaller coffee mugs When you have the circle blueprint down, you can fill in the circles with whatever free hand design you want, like zentangle designs and things it This is a fun little art book It has a few basic project ideas that you can copy that are great time occupiers, but this book in particular taught me that you can use small plates and coffee mugs to trace as the outline for the mandala I used the technique of tracing the plate and then 4 smaller circles inside that circle with smaller coffee mugs When you have the circle blueprint down, you can fill in the circles with whatever free hand design you want, like zentangle designs and things it doesn t even have to be just circles, any shape you choose Anyway this book opened up so many ideas for me when it comes to drawing mandalas, there is just so many possibilities it s a great little adddition to my art book collection

This book is what got me started with my zentangle mandala drawing phase It showed me how to trace a coffee mug or a small dish to make the perfect circle, than you draw sections in the circle, and fill the sections with different zentangle designs to make a instantly interesting mandala This is a great book for beginners interested in the art of drawing or zentangle art with some great demonstrations and examples of different mandalas.
