3.5 starsI have read every book in what is one of my favorite series and I look forward to going back to the Breeds World that the author has created.Rule Breaker is the 29th book in the series.quite an amazing feat to still get readers excited about each book that is released. The main characters in this story are lion breed Rule Breaker who has been around for a long time in the series He and his brother, Lawe who has found his mate and HEA in the 26th book, Lawe s Justice work as Jonas Wyatt s enforcers And Gypsy Rum McQuade, who was traumatized by her abduction and torture by coyotes when she was fifteen before being rescued by the Breeds.Rule is determined never to accept a mate and mating heat due to what he as a child, when his mother and her mate were horribly tortured and killed Gypsy is now working undercover for a secret organization named Unknowns, whose mission is to protect the Breeds My thoughts Wow, there s a lot happening in this story So many characters, so many subplots that had my head spinning At times I lost the plot who was who and what were they actually doing Whilst Rule Gypsy talk about wacky and weird names Gypsy Rum and her sister Kandy Sweet are fighting each other off he is adamant she s not his mate because his glands are telling him so yes, his brother tells him she is but no Rule says no way Gypsy is doing the not going there thing with Rule, whilst feeling a little twinge of betrayal by not admitting her role in the Breeds world.and boy does she know how to lie even when poor Rule can smell her deceit Yes, these Breeds have an awesome sense of smell In between we have Dane, Jona s South African half brother, and Dog, the unknown coyote up to some shenanigans involving the Unknowns..still have no clue what they role is in there Most of the story centers on Amber, Jona s daughter who was injected with some powerful and dangerous drug and who is trying to find a cure It seems Gideon and Judd check out previous books have the secret to saving Amber.I enjoyed meeting up with previous characters and seeing how their lives are progressing..even though it was a brief glimpse I would have liked a bit about them.Instead we have pages and pages and sex and mating heat between Rule Gypsy, which I must admit didn t do much for was the same thing over and over and over again I would have preferred some of these pages to be dedicated to interesting and exciting what is the Unknowns, what is Dane plotting I would love if Dane, Dog, Cassie loved her very brief brief appearance here , Gideon s stories.I was happy that Rule Gypsy found their HEA.but I wasn t crazy about some of the aspects of this story it felt a bit too long drawn in some way.But as usual, my interest in this amazing Breed World will keep me waiting eagerly for the next installment.

Originally reviewed for The Book VixenIn a Nutshell Readers who are like me and have read 28 books in this series may as well read this, the 29th.Why I Read this Book 28 books into this series is an investment I either need to give up or stick with forever. What I Liked The relationship development is the same in all the books one or both leads fight the mating but the lust for each other prevents them from separating until they accept their emotional mating as well Gypsy and Rule are no different than the 28 couples who came before them in this series This relationship is based on uber sexual connection so the erotica is well done When this series first started it was rare because it featured anal sex, oral sex on the female lead, and massive amounts of bedroom scenes Now in romance this kind of erotica is found in nearly every book so it s not rare or titillating Still, erotica readers will like this romance well enough. What I Also Liked Part of this series charm has been all the secondary characters Dog, the mysterious Coyote Breed, returns here and I like that Dane, the lion hybrid Breed, is manipulating events and readers are unclear if he s good or bad Some of the other couples from the series have cameos here and that s always nice.I also liked that FINALLY readers get some resolution on Jonas and Rachel s infant daughter She s been in mortal danger since book 21 and I was mightily sick of this plot thread No, it s not entirely wrapped up but at least there is meaningful progression What I Didn t Like This book is no different than the 28 before it The romance is sexy, superficially emotional and develops just as readers will expect The plot just adds kinks in the series plot which tries to add levels of intrigue and somehow just confuses me Finally, even though I liked some of the secondary characters the author has just introduced too many This book has a Breed on every corner, named and not, and I just know this means we ll get 100 books in this series.IMO Series fans will read this as I did Others should pass as the plot will make no sense, there are too many secondary characters, and the romance is stock review copy provided by publisher

Breeds 29Feline Breeds 16Featured Couple Rule Breaker Lion Gypsy Human Rule and Lawe Breaker are the two brothers, lion Breeds, high level enforcers who were never apart and who used to make fun of the mated Breeds Nowadays Lawe is happily mated to Diane, while Rule is trying everything he can not to be mated Basically, he is avoiding the girl that he suspects that she is his potential mate.Of course it is really fun watching him loosing it Because it is certain that Rule will lose it No question about it.Gypsy McQuade s life changed in one single night when she was fifteen She lost her brother, she met the Breeds and Rule noticed her Since then, she is trying to forget her pain and her bitterness from her brother s death and her parents indifference what are they hiding by partying all night 9 years after her little world shattered, she definitely does not want to mate to a stubborn Breed.Soon Gypsy and Rule will have to work together to discover a traitor and they both have to come to terms with the fact that they are compatible to mate and nature will take its course.Lots of old and new characters and their stories are tangled with the story of Gypsy and Rule Jonas with the help of Dane the lion hybrid Breed this time is still manipulating, but he has the noble cause of saving his daughter Amber is finally saved in this book and her condition is stable Needless to say she will never be as she used to be and now she is than just a human child Rhyzan Brannigan is introduced A 6 foot 6 green eyed badass coyote who will be Jonas Wyatt s assistant director to the Bureau of Breed Affairs Interesting character Dog, the mysterious Coyote Breed is also making an appearance Gideon Graeme story is being prepared for the next book. This book concludes unfinished story lines, which made me really relieved Especially little Amber s storyline, that has been dragging on so long, has finally a resolution Moreover, I really enjoyed the main love story of the book with Rule and Gypsy.

Earc received to read and write an honest review.I have been a Breed fan since I picked up Megan s Mark some four years ago, and I often find myself making up a list of Breed books I want to see written, and Rule was definitely on that list He may not have been on the top, but he was on it for damn sure, now I can cross him off and wait on Dane and Dogs books Rule Breaker is the kind of emotionally traumatic book that leaves you sitting wrecked on the floor mumbling about sadistic authors who are also angels with white pearly wings and hearts made of cotton candy There was always a sense of emotional overload in every scene of this book, whether it be from arousal, anger, fear, need, disgust, regret, sadness, or happiness at the end Leigh had the distinct ability to pull it all out of her characters and then making you feel it like an over powered punch to the gut A lot of authors lack this ability or can t sustain it for long, but Leigh s got the secret to it locked down and uses it to her advantage Gypsy McQuade s a new character for us long standing breeds fans and she fits right in, I promise I won t lie and tell you I thought good thoughts about her, when I first read the synopsis for this book, because I didn t I honestly didn t want to read this book, because I swore she was going to make me hate this book, but she surprised me Leigh surprised me, the whole damn book surprised me Gypsy is a strong, intelligent, independent, lonely woman, but her job demands certain things from her or so she tells herself not in those words, but you get my drift She has specifically shaped her life, to not let anyone in and too not dredge up old feelings She has worked hard to bury her past and memories, but some things aren t meant to be forgotten and they most certainly aren t meant to hold a person back She is so closed off from everything and everyone, that she doesn t feel much of anything, until Rule Breaker makes eye contact Rule Breaker has three rules that he has lived by 1 Never have sex with a woman outside his own subspecies, especially a human woman 2 Never, at any time, accept a mission concerning a female when Jonas Wyatt stinks of a lie 3 Run don t walk, skip or stumble Run, hell for leather away from any female, human or breed, when his desire for her appears, in any way, to have so much as a single sign of Mating HeatHe takes these rules to heart and back, but he has good reason too, even IF his mating is inevitable He is so convinced that Gypsy isn t his mate, that he doesn t see the signs until its too late to run, but that s what happens when you mess with a Lions mate, especially when that lion is Rules own subconscious I did not think anyone could be manipulating than jonas, but Leigh proved me wrong with not just one but three manipulators, who aren t even close to Jonas level But they try really hard Rule made a conscious decision to have Gypsy for the sole reason of there not being any Mating heat, but he is knocked on his ass and shown the error of his ways, and I believe he would have gotten to the mating part, without the help of his Lion, it just would have taken a little longer and a lot fight When you first open the book and start reading you are hit with so much emotion, its hard to deal and I found myself rereading some parts to get it all processed Trauma is a tame word to use when describing what happens, but its the only word I have to use It gets slightly better once its all over, but nothing could diminish what happened, not time, not family, not anything and it carries through the book, like an under current that is waiting to sweep you up again and make you burn with every emotion it can drag out of you It was an amazing start to the book, and I don t think I would have liked any other beginning Leigh could have written She weaved an intricate story of possible deceit, deceit, seemingly impossible love and new beginnings The touches of Jonas and Dane that we get, only add to the intrigue for the two and I think I love Dane because I always knew he wasn t who he played at being This book was all about not judging a book by its cover This book honestly had me worried, but it was misplaced worry, and I am honored to have gotten a chance to review it Book Pages and Dripping ink gives RULE BREAKER five Black Roses and a must read stamp of approval.

3 1 2 stars Wow, this book was sooooo much better than Stygian s Honor I have to say i was really nervous to read this because the last one was quite boring and also because it was getting such mixed reviews, similar to how it was with the last book It was nowhere near on par with her better books but there was a definite improvement here, that s for sure Here s a small little breakdown of what who was in this book and my thoughts.Rule Lora Leigh did something completely different with this book than she has with others and i have to admit, i was slightly confused in the beginning, not having a clue what was going on but once a little bit was explained things got really interesting I actually kind of liked how Rule s animal acted as a separate being, sneaking around all those years being devious ala Jonas Wyatt , putting things in motion withOUT Rule even knowing about it That was strange but kinda cool I certainly did not see anything like that coming Dane Vanderale I LOVE him he was such a big part of this book and he was everywhere Since he really hasn t been around for the past few books, i completely forgot what a schemer he is, he can def give his brother a run for his money And i also forgot about his feelings for Harmony, that s so sad and i am SO looking forward to him finding his mate Jonas Wyatt He is the Grand Poobah of schemers That man has been the ever present manipulator in everyones lives but i think in this book he might have actually been out manipulated and out schemed Gideon This is a breed that is quickly turning out to be the dark horse in the game everyone seems to be playing and After hiding in the shadows all this time, the man breed is finally making his appearance and in ways no one sees comingwell, some do and that was another rather shocking revelation Dog This breed has been around on and off throughout this series, with a lot of mystery surrounding him Is he a council coyote Is he Jonas coyote Does he just work for the highest bidder IS HE CASSIE S MATE Ha, he was in this book quite a bit, working with Dane, of all people Cassie was in a few parts but not much at all and she never seems to be in the same place at the same time as Dog..then again her father, Dash, doesn t allow ANY coyote breeds to be around when his daughter is so that could be why I m not really sure why the fans are questioning whether or not he is Cassie s mate since they ve never really had any interaction but it s obvious her mate IS a coyote breed and Dog has certainly been the mysterious bad boy coyote to watch so i guess time will tell.Gypsy She was the heroine of the story and i ve put her at the bottom of my list because the other main characters i enjoyed much than i did her She wasn t awfulno annoying over the top alpha female here, she was actually alright but the thing that bugged me was how she kept blaming herself for her brother s death, over and over and over and over it was redundant and retarded Her explanation reasoning for feeling she was to blame was silly and without merit The other rather silly thing in this book were the NAMES There was Gypsy Rum, her sister Kandy Sweet, who runs the family store which happens to be called the Gingerbread Housea sweets and gift store Oh, and their parent s names were Hansel and Greta Lol Aside from those few things, this book was def a HUGE improvement over the last The romance was better although i still sometimes skimmed the forever lasting sex scenes and the action suspense intrigue was interesting enough to keep my attention There were still a few spots that dragged here and there but overall MUCH BETTER This book most certainly gives me hope that Lora Leigh might just be slowly getting her mojo back

Fillers, complicated lines, no backtrack or updates to previous books to catch up Charters were ok but some wold building would be nice ones in a while Thought it would never finish A killer to actually read all the way to the end I actually read 3 books in between this one to get some breathers 2 3 star rating Wish it was shorter, to the point with way less fillers.Without the sex scenes it was just as watching bold and the beautiful Even if you missed episodes, you would never miss anything important.Full review will come closer to release date

2.5The first thing you should do before reading this book is get your life jacket ready There is a massive flood, flow, drip, soaking, sopping, seeping wetness going on Gypsy, has to be wettest woman in the fictional world After hearing her describe her leaking disorder for far too many pages I had to hear her bed mate talking about riding all that wetness over and over I swear the book s pages started to curl from the moisture.Rule Breaker, the lion, honest and true, yeh right Okay so Mr Rule has a commitment phobia we get that he brings it up nearly every time he talks So live it and shut it already I got it He promises his virgin mate that he ll never push her, he believes no means no Yes he said that, promised all heart felt and all Then while his animal is claiming her he has to take her rear and not tell her what he plans He starts probing around and she s begging, crying no, NO please Rule no so what does he do, tells her it s okay baby and he does it anyway beacuse his animal needs to arse claim her The rest of the book, meh Cowardly Lion Finds mate, claims her

Ms Leigh getting back to the main storylines which was good I did have to try and wrack my brains to work out who some of the older characters were and how they fit in and why Jonas was looking for them, but I sort of got there in the end Ms Leigh doesn t really give us many recaps which would have worked better for me Glad to finally read about some sort of resolution with regards to Amber Jonas step daughter and her condition.
