I read this in 3 sittings I couldn t put it down I wish the book would have been completely written in first person, but I still give it 5 stars because of the story it told I can t even imagine how Dan felt out there all alone far away from his family I would have given up the first day An inspirational story.

Having followed the event pretty closely while it happened, I initially wondered if there would be anything new to learn from this book I was pleasantly surprised that I did learn a lotabout the expedition, and gained a greater appreciation of the difficulty of the feat Daniel Burton accomplished In this book you get an insight into the preparation that Daniel put into this expedition, you learn about the difficulties and dangers he faced, and you get a sense of the beauty of Antarctica Having followed the event pretty closely while it happened, I initially wondered if there would be anything new to learn from this book I was pleasantly surprised that I did learn a lotabout the expedition, and gained a greater appreciation of the difficulty of the feat Daniel Burton accomplished In this book you get an insight into the preparation that Daniel put into this expedition, you learn about the difficulties and dangers he faced, and you get a sense of the beauty of Antarctica The experts said that Daniel shouldn t even try, but he tried anyway, and did what no one had ever done before Being the first person to bike all the way from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole is a five star accomplishment, so this book deserves high praise to begin with I was so enthralled with the reading that I couldn t put it down and read it in just a few days It s very rare that I can say that about any book, so this book definitely deserves five stars
