Another great read in Frank Chadwick s series of Noir SF with main character Sasha Naradnyo Having died and been revived at the end of the first book, How Dark the World Becomes, Sasha has little time to enjoy his newly formed happy family He finds himself once again challenged to help orchestrate the survival of the good guys in an inter and intra species war The effective pace of the novel is set by Sasha s measured and critical logistical leadership of the motley band of fighters durin Another great read in Frank Chadwick s series of Noir SF with main character Sasha Naradnyo Having died and been revived at the end of the first book, How Dark the World Becomes, Sasha has little time to enjoy his newly formed happy family He finds himself once again challenged to help orchestrate the survival of the good guys in an inter and intra species war The effective pace of the novel is set by Sasha s measured and critical logistical leadership of the motley band of fighters during the battles Like How Dark, the novel is a successful blend of micro and macro interrogations of identity, family, citizenship, friendship, loyalty, betrayal, greed For example, there s a tasty little bit about Sasha s theory of management smart and lazy are leaders, smart and energetic are idea guys, stupid and lazy make reliable followers is a great swipe at our current political chaos And I m pretty sure I understand Trump better for having met Chadwick s character Elaamu Gaant Great story, engaging voice, fun read

Fun adventureNot quite as realistic feel as Chain of Command but we ll done, exciting and entertaining.Perhaps an implicit commentary on flaws in our own society s maldistribution of income and the role of intellectual property law.

Not as good as How Dark the World Becomes, but a good tale of urban combat.

Not as good as the first of this two part series but well worth the readTwo years have passed and the world continues to destabilize When a motivational speaker begins to organize a following based on the idea that the government has gone soft on the lesser races including humans , the veneer of civilization quickly disappears, and violence rules.Humans are largely huddled in a ghetto, fighting off military attacks But all looks pretty hopeless Chadwick does a great job of maintaining t Not as good as the first of this two part series but well worth the readTwo years have passed and the world continues to destabilize When a motivational speaker begins to organize a following based on the idea that the government has gone soft on the lesser races including humans , the veneer of civilization quickly disappears, and violence rules.Humans are largely huddled in a ghetto, fighting off military attacks But all looks pretty hopeless Chadwick does a great job of maintaining the tension, spacing the actual armed confrontations with scenes designed primarily for character development We learn a lotabout our hero, as well as a few new characters
