Another romance novella I really liked This one reminded me heavily of those super romantic Regency romances I read back in the 90s I liked the quirkiness of the relationship dynamics the age difference, the wicked aunt, the house party s...

I read two of the other books in this series and have to say I need to go back and refresh my memory I really enjoyed this book for what it was The story is about the Duke of Caversham or Marcus Widowed for 10 years, he swears he will never marry again This sounds like a typical historical romance but what makes it different is the age difference between Marcus and Amelia.Amelia is soon to be 29 years old and following her fathers death becomes a companion for her horrible aunt It is actually her aunt who sets her cap for the duke but when Marcus and Amelia meet it changes everything for both as the duke will not rest until he finds out her true identity He only knows her by miss and she calls him sir He is a stickler for most of societies rules He s not a saint but come on ladies would really want him to be I loved how Marcus did not tolerate any BS from her aunt I mean when it came to protecting Amelia, god was he awesome He did not just defend her to her horrid aunt but reunited her with lost loved ones I find it really attractive when a H goes above the call of duty to bring joy into the h li...

Amelie and Cav Marcus Amelie was not your usual miss For one, she is 28 and therefore totally on the shelf For another, she does not simper or get starry eyed She s practical with no false idea of her place yet she s also no push over She s been treated like dirt by her aunt for the last time Her aunt, well now there s a strange character Still not sure what to make of her If I were Marcus I would have made her life a misery just out of principal Amelie is dragged to a house party by her aunt, even though they weren t invited All so her aunt could try to entrap seduce the widower Duke of Caversham Marcus Marcus is in his early 50 s and has two children, so he has no intentions of marrying again, and certainly not to a grasping liar like Amelie s aunt Now Amelie however, she intrigues him I thought the official blurb for this one was pretty misleading It wasn t nearly that formulaic It was actually quite sweet and romantic I love a sexy older man, and Marcus was perfect It was li...

Miss Amelia Lands a Duke by Sandy Raven is a 2014 publication This set up sounds great, but for some reason the story fell flat for me Amelia is a strong woman who takes a position as a paid companion for her Aunt Katherine after her parents die and her brother goes missing Yet, it would seem Katherine is in financial straights herself and has set her sites on snaring the Duke of Caversham Forcing her way, with Amelia in tow, to a party where the duke is in attendance, her plans backfire in a big way when it is not Katherine the duke falls for, but Amelia Katherine is venomous in her scorn and jealousy of Amelia and her in outrage over her foiled plans She was perhaps the strongest character in the story since she did manage to evoke at least a little emotion from me Otherwise, I didn t feel any connection to Amelia or Marcus and had little interest in what has happened to Amelia s brother, Henry The sex scene seemed obligatory and wasn t true to Amelia s charac...

When purchasing the box set Scandalous Summer Nights in which there are seven stories by seven different romance authors I did not know if I would find one or two stories I would like I have to say I am not disappointed with my purchase, most of the stories in the box set are wonderful Now having said that let me tell you my thoughts on Sandy Raven s novella, Miss Amelia Lands a Duke, which is a prequel to her series the Caversham Chronicles. The heroine of our story is Ms Amelia Manners Sutton a 28 year old spinster, who is the companion to her aunt,a social climber who intends to wed Marcus Renfield Halden, the Duke of Caversham even though she is not out of mourning While at a house party, Amelia hides from her aunt s schemes and runs into a gentleman who intrigues her Of course, it ends up that it is the duke, but Amelia doesn t know that right away Our hero of the story is Marcus Renfield Halden, the Duke of Caversham He is a widower who is 50 year old, wealthy and extremely powerful and still a very dashing handsome man Caught kissing a man she believes within her reach socially, Amelia discovers...

So a prequel to the Caversham chronicles, which I have read, now may have to go back and read how this marriage turned out Another free book which turned out well Just a little misunderstanding, but did not dwell too long A poor spinster of 29, companion to a terrible aunt, meets a man in the garden They have a lovely time, but she later finds out he is the Duke her aunt is pursuing Marcus is 52 and has been a widower for 10 years He did not think he would remarry, but something about Amelia calls to him and he sort of lets them be found in a compromising position, but of course she doesn t realize he really wants to marry her, hence the misu...

Well told, but never have been and never would be a fan of instant love I do like the idea of the older gentleman getting smitten with a significantly younger spinster Could have been better had it been a full length novel.

2.5 starsIt is difficult to build character relationships in a novella, and this one did not It was melodramatic and unbelievable I liked the concept, but the book did not work for me It is a good thing the story was short, or I would probably have not made it all the way through it.

Miss Amelia Conquest a Duke is the first publication of the author Sandy Raven in Brazilian lands The author was invited by Babelcube Inc to have her novels translated and published on in e book Sandy, who is a sympathy, accepted the challenge and here I am at her invitation, leaving my impressions on the prologue of the series The Chronicles of Caversham The book is short and easy to read It has a captivating story and at the same time different from what I am used to reading among the authors of the genre The history of this book reminded me a lot of those historical novels of the New Cultural that were published in banking format But at the same time it is hotter, since the author inserts in its history some scenes spicy.Amelia is an interesting, intelligent and at the same time still innocent character in certain matters, because although she is already 28 years old, she is still a virgin and has always lived in the interior of England Far from the glow and vices of high society When embarking on a trip as an escort of her aunt to a party in the house of a noblewoman, she has the opportunity to glimpse another world and to get to know better the rather kind personality of her aunt, who is always making little of her and disdaining her in the presence of others as if she were merely a companion and not a relative.During the days of the party, Amelia learns ...
