The rating for this islike 4.25, but I m giving it a 5 for one simple reason For the first time, someone s done a vampire werewolf mating thing RIGHT.There are a number of authors who I shall leave unnamed, who produce something like a book, or , a month And all their books involve shifters of some sort finding their mate and the trials and tribulations thereof In all these books, the straight guy who suddenly finds a male mate takes all of about 20 minutes to be totally ok with the The rating for this islike 4.25, but I m giving it a 5 for one simple reason For the first time, someone s done a vampire werewolf mating thing RIGHT.There are a number of authors who I shall leave unnamed, who produce something like a book, or , a month And all their books involve shifters of some sort finding their mate and the trials and tribulations thereof In all these books, the straight guy who suddenly finds a male mate takes all of about 20 minutes to be totally ok with the earthshaking news of their change in sexual orientation There s some token whining and crying often literally , there s some sort of minor conflict that risks their relationship that s written in as the obligatory something bad has to happen briefly towards the end of the book and then you get your happily ever after I call this book spam Books that are all copies of each other, except for name changes and a few token details. All the things those books get wrong, this book gets RIGHT.The straight guy isn t instantly ok with a male mate, it s a shock that takes some getting used to The token conflict isn t a token at all It s an engrossing, interesting and integral part of the plot Bad things happen Really bad things But they completely fit in with the plot, and there IS a strong secondary plot other than the relationship between the two mains that runs through the entire book It doesn t just pop up briefly towards the end as the prerequisite conflict. The other thing that this book does right is that it lets the relationship and plot develop It s not like they meet and then a day later everything s ok and they re ready to get married One of my frequent critiques about the shifter book spam is that all the books take place in fast forward Here, plot points take time to unravel You are allowedthan just token, brief insight into what s going on in the characters heads and how they re growing.Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to future works by this author

This book had the potential of being 4 5 stars Unfortunately, I was tittering on giving it a 2 3 star rating I really loved the vampire shifter books I don t come across that many thus far and was pleased to find one that also involved fated mates Especially, in this book, it was rare for you to find your mate for both the shifter vampire kind The shifter, Shawn, is not your common werewolf shifter which I was very excited about when I found out I also liked that they both didn t autom This book had the potential of being 4 5 stars Unfortunately, I was tittering on giving it a 2 3 star rating I really loved the vampire shifter books I don t come across that many thus far and was pleased to find one that also involved fated mates Especially, in this book, it was rare for you to find your mate for both the shifter vampire kind The shifter, Shawn, is not your common werewolf shifter which I was very excited about when I found out I also liked that they both didn t automatically jump into the sac after minutes of meeting each other Shawn, as far as he was concerned, was straight until he stumbled upon his very male mate As far as fated mates go It takes him a while to realize his feelings for Valentin the vampire are because they are mates Same goes for Valentin Valentin, also doesn t believe even if they are fated, their relationship will last This book also has action Valentin is on the run and Shawn has been kicked out of his family As they are on the run together, they have to learn to trust each other, help keep each other safe and come to terms they are in fact mates Throw in the mix that Valentin is not healthy and Shawn might be the only one to be able to help him. Now, why didn t I give this story a 4 5 star rating I felt the author about 60 70% into the book crams way to much stuff and then rushes the end because of it The fight scenes in the end are over before they begin You find outinformation, but then isn t elaborated on it I thought, maybe, there would be a book 2, to at least help tighten up this ending better Sadly, there is not view spoiler I was confused Shawn s friend was a werewolf Also, we find out about the vampire council then it is over The head vampire told the two of them he wanted to see them again after they settle down at home I get that Valentin is in fact a Master and in charge of his sire s line now Does that mean they actually own all of his sire s possessions now Are they both going to move back home as in Russia I am not going to accept that, just because the head vampire okayed their mated status, everyone else is okay with it I was sure their would bebloodshed over a vampire shifter being mated Also about how Valentin came into his Master status I would think both of those things would puttargets on their backs Also, it was like oh, these two very higher ups vampires tried to annihilate the council, off with their heads We don t need to investigate any further No need to worry about the powerful wizard witch that got away Additionally, Shawn s friend looked at his neck for the mark of being mated Then in the end of the book, he never was marked Shawn marked Valentin, but Valentin did not mark him Finally, the very end I kept going back and forth, looking to see if that was in fact it The special stone that everyone was looking for, Valentin knows where it is located and other information So, what are Shawn and Valentin going to do about it Guess we won t find out any of these questions since their seems to be no book two view spoiler hide spoiler hide spoiler

3.75 starsThis was really very good, My only reservations with the book were in terms of the world building I am the biggest fan of letting the world unfold as the story progresses but this was a little too sketchy in the telling in places It was spare in the details, and some juicy details about the places, situations and charcters woud have fleshed this out to a realy cool tale.I really really loved the main characters and I hope Aimee Brissay is given a otpublishing opportunities.

Very good plot and interesting characters Surprisingly enough there s not as much sex as I ve come to expect from Siren.

3 stars I love the premise Paranormal fated mates that transcends species So kudos for the author s imagination and bringing this together Overlooking some editing mistakes, I didn t feel the connection between the MCs, even though they are supposed to have this amazing fated mates thing going on The story mystery arc felt rushed, as did the romance for that matter Good start, but lacking in a few areas.

3.75 starsFirst time with this author The story was unique in regards to pairing a Jaguar with a Vampire I wonder if she would expand on this series with Shawn and Valentin looking for the ruby This was a great start.

I really enjoyed Shawn and Valentin s story, I was content with the ending, but I d definitely wouldn t say no to a sequel I liked the plot and the characters, I didn t realize that Shawn was a shifter when I started the story, so that was a nice surprise This wasn t terribly long either, which I liked for this story.

Just wow I am flying on a high right now. This was so serious, and yet so disarmingly funny that I found myself laughing out loud.I can really get behind the workings of this paranormal world Vampires are created, and while not following the exact same myths, they still remain mostly true to the initial roots Even the shifters make sense here, and I especially liked the use of therian. While the writing itself is not the best, the narrative is still deep and engaging.Yes, we have actual char Just wow I am flying on a high right now. While the writing itself is not the best, the narrative is still deep and engaging.Yes, we have actual character development and the relationship between Shawn and Valentin is fascinating to behold It actually develops and has its very own feel to it, quite unlike others I have read.Viewpoints are sadly messy, although the author appears to have put forth an effort to separate the chunks with dividers Which results in a lot of very brief chunks and lots of dividers, and even then the viewpoints are not clean But that s okay This book actually really works anyway, barring momentary confusion resulting from the switches.I do appreciate that the plot is about those two winging it, mostly, while they re on the run Man okay, jaguar and vampire against nature While being pursued by evil vampire assassins through partly hostile terrain Oh, yeah This is fun because the protagonists have to actually struggle with normal things, like transportation and the cold, and they are not just presented with ready made solutions. They don t have all the answers, either In fact they hardly have any answers, nor do they really know how to obtain them No connections to wise people who are bound to know it all, not even insta sharing of what they both know The latter is not for lack of intention, either, simply how it s tricky to pool information when the questions are so hazy and widespread and their backgrounds so very different. The fierce, unforgiving nature of the fights contrasts beautifully with the character s oddly human limitations And even though this author s style in its awkward shifting of viewpoints and her use of the therian and the vampire instead of names half the time removes the reader from the scene, somehow she makes up for that disconnect completely and their emotions, thoughts and actions feel very immediate.Seriously, the entire plot and the mounting tension in this are simply great Things become increasingly dire to the point where the threat of view spoiler rape hide spoiler does not carry its usual shock value any and all one focuses on is for Valentin to survive, no matter the cost view spoiler Then torture follows and I am just glad we are spared the details All the while, Shawn, all by himself, is desperately trying to find Valentin hide spoiler This is excellent stuff and, while gripping, not depressing even slightly Honestly, I can see this unfolding as a movie, with a glorious, epic set piece towards the end that makes your breath stop for a moment, only to return it with glee.In closing, all I can say is that any flaws in the writing will surely be overcome withpractise, while the brilliance of the storytelling is already present in full force and afforded me a surprising and beautiful experience 3Damn, I loved this D
