I love books about family relationships and this book is full of so many different aspects of family life It centers around Tiziana who, when her mother has health issues, discovers that she was adopted This sets her on a journey to Italy where she searches for answers about her birth parents. You wouldn t know that this is Laura s first book It is a fabulous story and she makes you feel as if you are in the midst of what s going on, and you can visual being in Italy The characters are well written and you get a sense of familiarity with them.I can t believe it took me so long to read this book, but I m glad I finally did I really hope the author writes another book soon I will definitely be reading it.This is a quick read that you won t want to put down It will tug at your emotions until the last page, and longer.

Daughter of Mine is Laura Fabiani s first and I hope not last novel Twenty seven year old Canadian Tiziana Manoretti learns that she had been adopted The reason for the disclosure fades fast, only to be replaced by shock, anger, and then intrigue She takes an early vacation early to visit Italy to piece together her past Part coming of age, part mystery, with two dashes of romance, and a healthy measure of Italian culture is how I would peg this fast, but emotional read The author describes Tizzy s Montreal and Gaeta, an ancient seaside town between Naples and Rome, Italy The descriptions are lush and vivid The dialog especially between her and her adopted parents, has snap and tenderness She loves them, but she is also upset There is definite menace strange, unexplained things do happen and the writing conveys danger well It takes talent to show how her parents understand her need for a quest, yet fear that she ll be hurt and disappointed by what her delving into the past will reveal There are no guarantees that the outcome will be pleasant Tiz is a mechanical engineer The author s choice of vocation is apt to illustrate the rational versus emotional, head and heart, conflict in Tiz s journey Not all is serious and heavy, though Fabiani entertains with a subplot of a mother trying to find a wife for her son Family, Love, Roots, real or grafted, are the touchstone of this enjoyable adventure into identity and Italy I hope to read from Laura Fabiani.

Tiziana Manoretti is shocked when, as the only child of her parents, she is informed that she was adopted when a medical emergency threatens her mother s life So begins the journey of Tiz to discover who she is and where she comes from, which leads her from the shores of Canada to sunny Italy As Tiz is getting closer to the answer, suspicious events start happening and no one will tell her the truth To make matters worth, Tiz s best friend Chris has been sending signals that he wants to change their relationship to be something Just when Tiz is starting to think about pursuing a new relationship with Chris, she meets an intriguing and sophisticated Italian man who is taking an interest in her.Daughter of Mine by Laura Fabiani is a great novel of self discovery and the power relationships have Fabiani s description of the Italian countryside is magical, it makes me want to hop on a plane and fly there immediately However, the dark undercurrents in the beautiful setting kept me hooked sitting on the edge of my seat as Tiz fought against the roadblocks in her way I also loved the relationship with Chris, where a best friend relationship moves into something with both parties unsure about how to progress and fearing the change will hurt their existing relationship.Fabiani beautifully explores what it means to be family and the lengths people are willing to go to protect their family from secrets that they mistakenly believe will hurt individuals Also, the lengths individuals will go to learn those secrets and how the heart has the capacity to love Great read and I recommend it

DAUGHTER OF MINE, is the story of Tiziana Manoretti, a 27 year old living in Montreal with her parents nothing of an oddity for Italian Canadians and set to find the truth about her birth After discovering that she was adopted, Tiziana leaves for Naples Italy, in search of the story behind her adoption.Intricate details lead to a search that seems almost futile, but with the help of the charming Gian Carlo a man she feels completely comfortable with from the moment she meets him..strange No, perfectly natural, actually I ll say no to avoid a spoiler Why should finding the truth about her birth and adoption become such a dramatic event Well, it seems that the family has to hide than to share A secret lies in a treasured and secret boxWhen Tiziana discovers its contents, the pieces of the puzzle come together at last. What about love Perhaps her one and only best friend, Christopher holds the key to that locketor will love be found through Gian Carlo Whichever way love takes these men, Tiziana will hold the key to their heart.I loved reading about the familiar places, streets and names of my native Montreal As well, Italy always captures my heart and this novel brings out its very best.Laura Fabiani spins a tale that is worth the intrigue, suspense, charm and heart warming moments that this pleasant read brings.Beautiful I m glad I let myself get swept away in this delightful novel reminiscent of all that is cherished of the old country, its beauty, traditions and forever typical charming flavour blends perfectly with all that is new and worth holding onto.

I love escaping into a great novel, especially when it features a strong, intelligent, educated female character in the lead role Daughter of Mine by Laura Fabiani offers just that in the role of 27 year old Tiziana Manoretti a Canadian Italian mechanical engineer living in Montreal Add in a splash of unrequited love, family discord, a long held secret, international travel and good food, well you get the idea.Tiziana had just successfully finished a project when she was blindsided by her mother s sudden health challenge As it could have a hereditary basis, the doctor recommended she be tested That lead to a confrontation between her mother and father on whether to share a secret dad on one side, mom on the other The secret was devastating She was adopted It didn t take long before she was on a plane to Naples to visit the orphanage where she was born and hopefully connect with her birth parents Unfortunately, someone behind the scenes was putting up roadblocks at every turn There were several things I loved about this book The characters were well developed After a few pages of walking in their shoes, I felt I could picture each in my head and understand why they acted the way they did Then there was the attention to the surroundings I can only assume the author has visited the area as the detailed descriptions of both the buildings, the countryside, the food and the people brought them to life for me Well done.

Title Daughter of MineAuthor Laura FabianiPublisher iUniverseISBN 9 780595 478576Reviewed by Jo Linsdell Daughter of Mine tells the tale of Tiziana Manoretti, who finding out that she was adopted, travels to Italy in an attempt to discover the truth about her birth and to search for her birth parents The road to learning about her past is far from easy but she meets some interesting characters along the way that help her out.As if the recent bomb about her adoption isn t enough, Tiziana is also getting mixed signals from her best friend Christopher and starts questioning exactly how deep her feelings for him are.Daughter of Mine is a real page turner and one of the best books I ve read for a while Laura Fabiani captures Italy beautifully as it follows Tiziana on her journey The descriptions of the locations visited by the characters are wonderful and give a real feel for the setting As do some of the Italian individuals that Tiziana meets along the way, who made me think of some real Italians I ve met since I came to live here.Relationships, love, family, friendship mixed with the stunning scenery of Italy Daughter of Mine is excellently written and a very enjoyable read I highly recommend this book.

Daughter of Mine is a captivating story about family, friends, loyalty, love, self discovery, understanding and forgiveness It is a story that will sweep you away with its beautiful descriptions and imagery, and will tug at your heart and won t let go until the very last word.I found the whole storyline both realistic, and at the same time, enchanting The descriptions of Italy were amazing and gave the book an almost magical feel Honestly, after finishing the story, I wanted to take the next flight out to Italy The characters were well developed Tiziana is an endearing character and her parents, especially her father, had that wonderful old world appeal Those characters were so realistic, that I was reminded of my own grandparents.I enjoyed everything about this novel The air of mystery kept things very interesting, the descriptions swept me off to another place, turning it into a type of mini vacation, and the struggles that Tiziana dealt with gave it a nice balance of realism Laura Fabiani s beautifully written story is definitely one that I will be giving to my daughter to read I m sure it will capture her heart as it did mine.

FTC I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.Daughter Of Mine by Laura Fabiani was a slow start for me but after I was three chapters or so in I didn t want to put the book down At times, I found that I frustrated because I wasn t sure how to pronounce the names of some of the characters and that always bugs me because I love to know how to say their names This has nothing to do with the book, but it is just something that I wanted to bring up This book did have slow parts like I said but I had to know how it all ended, so I was willing to push through I was also intrigued because this book has to do with adoption and since I have been touched by adoption, I am always super interested in books that have something to do with adoption All I all I did enjoy this book and I hope that the author will write because I would love to read books by her I think this is a book that almost anyone would love and that everyone should check it out.

I won this book and wanted to give it the fairest review possible I enjoyed reading it Laura does a good job of writing the story and I would be interested in reading another book by her However, I think the storyline was supposed to create question and wonder in the mind of the reader, but I knew what was going to happen very quickly, and even though I knew where it was going, I still enjoyed getting there Although I am a religious person, I don t like it when religion is introduced into a book even my own religion , as in the Jehovah s Witness part It always draws me out of the story and into reality But that part was short and I was able to get back into the story right away I would certainly suggest that anyone read this book and judge it for themselves It s one of those that I think most people could enjoy.
